Get this...
When I got home from work today Will was sooooo excited to see me. He had a surprise for me.![]()
He hands me a ring. A real ring. Made of what looks very much like gold. And an "emerald" and some clearly not-so-real diamonds.
Seems Dae-Dae (kid at school who has an interesting reputation) approached him yesterday and asked him if he wanted to buy a ring.
"Sure" my sweet darling replies, "My Mom wants an emerald ring." (remembering the emerald and CZ mickey head ring I was looking at at WDW last year).
So the little operator brings the ring to school today and sells it to Will for $10.

So I'm involved in a middle school crime ring.
And I sit here wondering if Dae-Dae's mom or next door neighbor is searching her sofa cushions for that dang ring.![]()
Reminds of something that happened to Katie last year at school. A little boy in her class gave her a ring. Real ring - 18k gold with decent-sized purple stones (amethyst, we think). In any case, much too nice for a 1st grade boy to give to a 1st grade girl. And Katie kept insisting that it WAS hers - he GAVE it to ME, mom! Cherie said just wait until we call your teacher and get to the bottom of it. So we sent the ring back to Katie's teacher, who said she'd look into the matter.
About a week later, we pick Katie up and she's grinning ear-to-ear! She had the ring back, with a note from her teacher. It seems that the little boy's dad has a house-restoration side business. The boy was with his dad one weekend at one of those houses, and they were cleaning out the ductwork. The boy had found this ring in one of the registers, and the dad told him that he could keep it - he found it, it was his now. And then the boy decided to give it to Katie. When the teacher asked the boy's dad, he replied with something like "Well, if he wanted to give it away, it's up to him..." Which was very cool of the dad, and we've now got the ring and the teacher's note put away.
Not that there's much romance that could probably come of it. The county built a new elementary school (designed by a firm I used to work for) which opened this school year, and we were zoned for it. Katie's "bonafide suitor" ('O Brother Where Art Thou' quote - one of my favorite movies) is still at the other elementary school.
blahhh Idol is such a snooze fest. i did looove Josh Groban and IL Divo though!
I could have told you that - and I've never watched the show! Reminds me too much of the 80s "Star Search" brand of over-reaching, diva-esque singing styles. But since I've not watched it, it's a pretty ignorant opinion, I must admit.
