Friends,

I am a long-time lurker that has just recently re-"joined" the boards. Back in 2000, when we made the first of two trips to UO, I spent way too much time reading all about the parks, the on-site hotels and all the inherent perks, etc, etc, etc.

Now, nearly 8 years later, my time is somehow much, much more limited. Here is my query / situation: I have / am put(ting) together a family trip (wife, 2 kids, my 2 sisters, their spouses / kids, and our mother, who has never been on a plane). We are staying at RPH 11/2-11/6. We have booked the Super Saver for 4 rooms. What "things" would you be telling the new trippers about in anticipation of the trip? Things to prepare for, things to take, things to look froward to, weather to expect, crowd (or not) conditions... Whatever you all can think of! I will direct each to this thread to read. Thanks in advance for doing the work for me!

One of the best things to read is the sticky FAQ's at the top of this forum. It is FULL of great info!

First off...Welcome back! :welcome:

Early November is a great time to come down...the weather is nice...the crowds are light...lines are not long. Since you're staying onsite, you guys get FOTL access so lines and wait times will be a breeze for your group. You will have plenty of time to enjoy both parks and CityWalk as well. Like Damo said, read the stickys up top and check out the website: www.universalorlando.com and when you have more detailed questions, please feel free to ask. The Universal homies will gladly assist! :thumbsup2

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't HHN carry over into the first few days of November?

If so, you may want to plan your days/times around the special event crowds that build later in the day when HHN is going on.

Yes...HHN runs until November 3rd so part of the time will be HHN free.

*bring a soft-sided cooler or purchase a cheap foam one once you arrive @ MCO

we were @ VWL 1st & always buy cases of water, pop & beer since they have kitchens. At RPR we wound up filling up the sink with ice & cooling our bottles of pop & water along w/DH's beer. Not very classy - effective though;)

*don't forget comfortable lanyards to keep the FOTL room key handy:thumbsup2. We used lightweight leather ones w/clear window/TMs were able to read the info they needed w/o removing the key. DH doesn't like anything around his neck, attached a carabiner to belt loop & stuffed it in his pocket - safely.

Sounds like a mini-family reunion, enjoy!
