So I just called and the CM told me that they could no longer check to see if PIN codes are attached to my name. Is this an accurate statement? She said that people were getting discounts that they weren't supposed to be getting and so Disney "upgraded" their system so that CMs can no longer check PIN codes. She said they can only check if you have the specific PIN code number sent to you...

Is this true? I could have sworn I read about people calling and getting this information - and very recently, too. Did I just get a lazy and/or uninformed CM?

My DH is usually the one who gets all of the PIN codes sent to his e-mail and he tends to delete them! Ugh.

Hi-

I just had CM offer to look for me this weekend. I think they can, but might not want to be bothered.

CM checked for me to see if I had any. That was a couple weeks ago though.

Hi-

I agree, maddiesmom.

I've mentioned this in several other threads now, so I'm sorry to everyone who's already read my 2 cents worth :rolleyes1 I've called at least 2-3x per week for a LOOOOooong time now. As of a couple of wks ago, I had NO codes. Friday I had a kids play/dine free code. Then Monday (2 days ago) I had the FD code for our Sept dates!!!!!

The CM had to SEARCH through several different screens for me. I had him look up my name, my maiden name, DH name, old addresses, & old e-mails. He told me I had a 20% off code after a while. I told him we couldn't book unless it was a 40% off code or FD code. He searched for quite a while longer & said we had the FD code!!! :woohoo:  I booked it immediately.

They CAN look up codes, but they don't all want to. I was on the phone with a CM a while back & she did several minutes of searching for me. After finding nothing, she told me to try back again soon. I apologized to her for making her do all that work & asked if they make a commission on bookings. She didn't come out & say yes, but definitely hinted that they do make commissions off of each booking. (You guys may have already known this, but it was news to me.) Sooooo, I think some CM's are just ready to make that extra commission & don't want to deal with those of us who are going to waste their time making them search through screen after screen of codes. :sad2: (Not to mention, if they find a code, that means their commission probably just dropped--compared to a rack room rate booking.) BTW...sorry for my abundance of run-on sentences...WDW talk just seems to do that to me! :rotfl:

Anyway, I ordered the WDW dvd about a month ago, cruise dvd 2 wks ago, & ordered customized maps on Friday. Don't know if it's connected w/ my FD code, but I'll certainly take those steps next time we're ready to book! Best wishes to everyone!

I was told the same thing yesterday by 2 different CM's. They both said that it's a new policy and new system and that they can't check. I didn't like what the one told me so waited a while and called back and got the same answer. Know it wasn't the same CM as the first was female and the 2nd was male!

I was told they do not make commission. I had almost finished booking my trip when the baby woke up crying I told her I was so sorry that I would have to call back and hated she would lose commission on my trip she said no problem we don't get commission we are paid hourly and they don't have extensions to reach the same cm like they do in places that get commissions. Oh and I was told they could not check for codes too once a few weeks ago but I called back and got someone else and they did look for me and I had the FD pin.

Last week I called and supposedly the CM did look it up, however he wasn't that happy about doing it. He said it was very hard to do, and honestly I don't think he did, but I'm guessing they can do it, but maybe are suppose to try not to.:confused3

Pardon my ignorance, but what are PIN codes? How do you get them?

I called again tonight and the CM supposedly looked it up but it took absolutely no time (like 30 seconds) and I've heard it takes longer than that, so I'm thinking he didn't check either. Oh, well.

And, to top it off, I got an e-mail from Disney Destinations tonight regarding a "Great Offer" for our family. So I excitedly opened it and, don't ya know it - it was the 4/3 deal being offered to everyone! LOL Oh, well. Still hoping for Free Dining...

PIN codes are discount codes that are not available to the general public. They are supposedly distributed randomly. I have heard that they will send them out to registered users on the disney site. You will see on here that some people have been registered for years and never had a code, while others get several discounts a year.

I registered on Disney last year and got several pin codes for free dining, room discounts and what not within a week or two of registering. I'd say I got 4 or 5 different offers that month.

Then nothin'.

I'm still waiting and crossing my fingers!

i am still patiently waiting for a free dining pincode.............................

LOL! I did get the kids play and dine free though but it isn't for the dates i need and i wouldn't make out on it.

I just called and the CSM looked for me. under my name, my DH name and our address.

Is there a special number to call to check pins? I don't think I ever got any pins. But now that people mentions the kids play & dine free offer, I remember seeing a postcard. Maybe I just don't know what a pin looks like.

Should I call back then? When i called 2 wks ago I was told in no uncertain terms that they can not look in their system to see if you had any codes attached to your name. She just said "No we can't check. If you received an email or mailing from us, we have to have to have the code either printed or attached in the email" Is this accurate?

I think that it is hit or miss and that you should definitely call back. Some CM check and other's don't. If you read over many of the threads, you will see that people have had CM's willing since you were told no.

I was one of those people who had been given a discount in my SIL name since we were part of her household, but would not be traveling with us this time.

I found out after I paid my deposit the CM was wrong...they let me keep it though since they already billed my credit card. I have since bought into DVC so ended up canceling it.

Good luck!!!
