Checking on your assigned room when using online check-in?

We did online check-in this week and was wondering if we could call the resort to see what room/building we were assigned to? Can it be done and if so, when should I call? If we call and they do give us the information, can we switch buildings on the phone or do we have to wait until we arrive? We arrive June 30...

The short answer is no you can't. You won't be given room specific details until your room is actually ready and available to you. Even if you check in on June 30th and the room is not yet released by Mousekeeping, they will not tell you the room number.
They take your cell phone info and either call you or text you with that information when the room is ready for occupancy. If you don't have a cell number to give them, they give you a telephone number to call and inquire during the day. Many members arrive and check in prior to the room being available. They won't be told the room number at checkin.
 
The rooms are assigned anywhere from the night before to a couple of days before. Faxes and phone calls are not are received by the room assigners. I have been told that Disney started using online check in to reduce the numbers of room changes after assignment. Last December we were told at BLT that changes weren't allowed, but that doesn't seem to be the policy everywhere.

That's what i'm worried about, I won't get the room I rqsted and can't change. I requested building 43 or 40 at OKW and I'm hoping they come through...do guests usually get what they rqsted through the online check-in?

You can't make requests with online check in. You need to make the request with MS and have it added to your reservation.

Bldg 40 has finished it rehab, I don't know if 43 is completed, it may be down.

As long as you have the request in with MS, that is the best you can do, especially with buildings going in and out of service during the rehab.

Remember, it also depends upon how busy the resort is, and whether anyone is checking out of your unit size, in a building that you requested. I think you have a good chance of being in the gneral area, even if you don;t get the exact building you requested.

I have had my requested areas granted when I've done online check-in.

I was told the building 30-33, 40 and 43 have all been renovated and they are starting on buildings 41 and 42...we are hoping for a renovated room...

Online check-in only puts your information into the system so that check-in will be quicker. It does not assign your room.
 
I called MS to just check on my rqst and they actually had it wrong so the nice lady actually called OKW to confirm my rqst...she told me that she couldn't tell me the room number but that my rqsts were met and I should be very happy with our stay!!!:cool1:

Sometimes you don't get anything you request.
 
Sometimes it seems like you get the opposite of what you request. We usually stay at BCV, home resort, where the view is not a big deal. We just ask for upper floor.

I have not used the online checkin. I think I prefer to check in with a human, and beg and whine for a better room assignment. I usually offer to wait for the better room. Our last stay was at BLT, we had to switch rooms 1/2 way thru, so we had 2 room assignments to stress over. (one was MK view room, that one was REALLY nerve-wracking). :rolleyes1

I wish I was kidding, but this is what I do...... (only go to WDW on points once a year, if that). Other than this, I am a good person. :laughing:

But if someone else checks in before you, even a day before you, and that villa is available, they might get it. It's not your's until you actually get into the villa.
 
Op not intended to be specific about you but a request is just that... a request there is nothing to say that you will actually get it when you arrive. The only thing any of us are owed when we arrive at the resort is a room in the category booked; not specific location.
