Checking into rooms, new help?

I have 3 rooms booked using my pin code at CBR for next week, and I put one name of each of my family members traveling with me on each room. My brother has a room, I have a room, and my dad has a room. Me and my brother will be checking in together and my dad won't be checking in until 9:00pm, Can we check in to his room with out him being their so that we have his room when he lands ay 9:00 pm (we are checking in at 9:30 am).
Any one have any experience with this.

I would think that the person in whose name the room is reserved has to be present in order to check in. If you change it to your name, you could check in because it would be "your" room.

This past October, my brotherinlaw, my brother and I were staying at the BWI. My brother arrived at 3 and we arrived at 630. The reservation was in my name. When we arrived my brother met us with a key to our room. We still had to get our own keys, etc. but he was able to check into the room.
