Checking into AKL around 09:00PM- will I get my room request?

Hi Everyone,

We will be checking into AKL at night and want to be on the Arusha Savannah on the third or fourth floor. Do you think the request will be met as we'll be checking in so late? We always make a point to check in super early because of this, but unfortunately this year it's unavoidable.

I am interested in knowing how that works too. We didnt ask for a particular savannah view, But we also wont be checking in until between 7-8 pm probably. We did pay for a savannah view bunk bed room, so they have to give us one, right? We just get no choice on which svannah it would be?

The only answer that anyone here can give you is - maybe. I've checked in late and gotten my requests and I've checked in late and not gotten my requests. You can always ask nicely to change to a different room the next day if one is available and you don't like your location

We got lucky and just booked a room at AKL yesterday for the period 4/22 - 4/29/08 and, because of the busy week, could only get a room with a standard view. I would have preferred and paid for a Savannah view but they stated they didn't have any left. What are my chances of getting a Savannah view when I check in? Is it first come first serve on the day you arrive? Should I call daily to see if there's an upgrade available?

I would keep calling. I flat out don't like the standard view rooms at AKL. I'd rather stay at a moderate resort with a better view than AKL with a standard veiw - and I love AKL. The magic just isn't the same without the animals outside of my room windows

We have checked in early and not received our requests & have checked in late and have. In my opinion, it is the luck of the draw if a room that meets your requests is available the day you check in. If you don't like your room and there is nothing else available when you check in, you can always request to be moved the next day if something more to your liking will be available.

I never get requests no matter what time I check in. Though AKL is the only place I ever received an upgrade - one time I paid for standard and got a pool view. Requests are just requests, can't count on them.

That makes me . DH has a conference and AKL is one of the conference hotels, but it's for a STANDARD view. Oh, well... we've never stayed here before so don't have much comparison. Plus, who has a conference during spring break/Easter week, anyway?

In reading other posts it looks like I need to have Disney Reservations note that request on my reservation. I guess Disney Reservations submits the reservations to AKL approx. 8 days prior to check in. So, I guess, I'll call AKL within that 8 day period and confirm my Savannah View request.

1) Sequence
. . . reservations are forwarded to resorts 4-days ahead of arrival date
. . . at times, rooms are not assigned until check-in time
. . . for assignments, the "ROOMS" person assigns a room number
2) Changes to assigned rooms
. . . someone checking in early could request a different room number
. . . the room could be left "dirty" due to lack of housekeeping
. . . the room could be left open due to mechanical problems
3) Faxing and calling the resort will not affect assignments
4) If you pay for a room grade (ie. Savannah) you should get it
5) If bumped from your grade, you will get an equal or better grade elsewhere.
