So next week, I am supposed to have signups for the Paper Piecing swap and the week after that for the Flock swap.

However, lately it seems that my DIS Swapping ladies have had a lot going on, and seem a bit overwhelmed or are cutting back on swapping. So I was wondering if people were still up for these, would prefer we hold off until the beginning of the year, or are ambivalent?

Myself, I am ambivalent to leaning toward waiting until next year (I have a bunch of projects myself, that have to get done). I want to make sure all my favorite swappers (and you are all my favorites :goodvibes ) are able to participate. But if there are several of you out there that have been counting the days until these signups, I am happy to continue. Since these are both single element swaps that will make them a bit easier, but there is additional work with paper piecing and flocking than making some other elements.

Thanks!

I guess it depends on the themes of the items and the size requirements. Larger would be easier to manipulate, but too large would eat up the flock.

i so want to do the flock swap, but i just can't do it right now. i hope it will be done again, so i can join the next time.

I am interested but don't feel as though I can put this on my plate right now.

I can go either way, now or later. I will sign up for the flock swap, but I'm not sure about the paper piecing one. I'm not very good at creating my own paper piecings. I can only do Cricut ones that I would be happy to send to someone. I need more practice on doing my own paper piecings before I'll be comfortable enough to do a swap with them.

I really want to join these swaps. Later would be better for me also. If you do sign-ups now, I'll probably squeeze in one group in each swap.

A few questions:

1. Paper piecing swap
a) disney, general, or both?
b) hand-made only?
c) separate groups for cricut and hand made?
d) how many to a group?

2. Flock swap
a) disney, general or both?
b) are these paper piecings only?
c) how many to a group?

I would love to join the paper piecing swap, being this is my favorite kind of element plus I just love hopemax's pp. I need to work on 3 albums for Christmas gifts and maybe do some scrapping for my albums. I go for the later sign ups.

I can go ahead and answer questions, even if it looks like people are in favor of waiting. And another reason why waiting might be better, for the paper piecing swap is there are quite a few new cartridges coming out this fall, that would be good to use in this swap.

Like most of our swaps, I am planning on having groups of 6. I am glad you asked if there would be separate groups for handmade and Cricut. I had been thinking about that myself. There is a different level of work involved between the two, but I don't want to offend anyone or leave anyone out. Not everyone has all the Cricut cartridges, and I know not everyone is comfortable making handmade paper piecings. I was planning on having a handmade only group, but most of the groups I expected that people could make either Cricut or handmade. I will be making all handmade anyway :goodvibes . The groups I was thinking of are:

  • Disney - Girl Because not everyone has a use for Princesses
  • Disney - Boy or cars or other boy items
  • Non-Disney Characters Especially with the new Sesame Street and Hello Kitty cartridges, and I know someone made Sponge Bob characters for the last Surprise swap and there are coloring pages for other characters as well
  • Holiday Santa, Easter Bunny, etc
  • Handmade - Disney
  • Handmade - non-Disney

Many characters would be appropriate for either the girl or boy groups, like Mickey. I can break out the handmade like the regular groups, but I don't know if there will be enough interest. And I am open to additional suggestions.

2. Flock swap
a) disney, general or both?
b) are these paper piecings only?

Like the paper piecings, it would be groups of 6. But I don't expect all items to be paper piecings. People could flock letters for a title, flock a die cut and put it on a tag or as an embellishment on a library pocket. Small flocked items could be used on corners of a photo mat or centers of an embellished shape. Just something has to be flocked, and use your imagination.

When I first brought up the flocking flock swap, the suggestions for groups were

Disney
Animals
Halloween
Christmas
Other Holidays
Everyday Life

and an "Anything Goes" group for kids.

Thanks for the info Hope. I'll do both swaps since we can do Cricut paper piecings!!! I'll practice my handmade ones, but don't know if I'll be ready to use any of them!

In the flocking swap- do we need to do our own flocking or can we make things using preflocked paper? Just wondering- I have used flocked paper but don't have any flock yet.

I'm waiting for my flock (its coming back with a swap) so I'd probably not sign up if its for before Christmas because I'm going to be out of action for at least three weeks, and I'm not sure how painful my hand will still be after that. paper piecings would definitely be out anyway. Once I've posted Tinkerbean's page swap I'm not signing up for anything until I know I can manage it without flaking.

I too would love to do both of these swaps - but I've got too much going on right now, so my vote would be to wait...

I was gonna sign up for the paper piecing one (now that i have a cricut! love it!!) but am happy to go ahead now or to wait - whatevers good with everyone else! x
