In October, we are splitting our stays at YC and Cr concierge. Last year, when we stayed concierge at Poly, we told the guys outside and were taken away in a golf cart to the Hawaii building. When we check into these two hotels, how does it go? Do we go to the front desk and tell them we are concierge? Do we tell the guys at the front entrance and they direct us, or does someone escort us? I have read people say they get pointed in the direction to go, etc. Any help would be great. thanks all, in advance

As you pull up to the guard house at the YC, let them know you are checking in and concierge guests. They will call ahead to the valet/bellman and let them know, and those people will call the concierge to find out if your room is ready.

If your room is ready, they will take you directly to the room, you can check in with the concierge once you have settled in. OTherwise they will store your luggage and you can use the card key you'll get from the IPO to access the concierge floor where you can check in.

This is "more or less" the way it works at all WDW CL's, so I would assume CR is the same way.

Thank you for the reply, Anne. I appreciate your time.

when you valet your car at the cr let the bell hop know you are staying concierge they will either send someone down to get you or they will give you a key to get up to that floor to check in.

Which Concierge at CR, 14th or 12th floor?

14th floor check in is on the 14th floor. One of the bell staff will need to take you up with their key.

I'm not sure about the 12th floor. It used to check in at the front desk. I've heard that they changed this so the check in is on the 12th floor. I cannot confirm this. I guess just ask the bell staff upon your arrival.

Enjoy your stay.

(PS, if you are on the 14th floor, your card will be "golden" and yes, you'll see several "eyes pop" from CM's when you hand it to them. :earboy2: )

Hello again! :)

We just did this same split in November. You SHOULD get an elevator key from the YC before your trip. I say "should" because it doesn't always happen. If you don't hear from them a couple weeks prior to your trip them call or e-mail them. The card is like a room key and it enables you to get up to the 5th floor where you will check in.

At the CR let the bellhop know you are concierge and they will bring you right up to the 14th floor. You get to check in there and there is hardly any line. The two times we have been there we were given our room and our luggage was brought up and in the room and DH went out afterwards to "officially" check in. Nice.

We made ALL our p.s.'s through the concierge staff at the YC/BC/BW and they were great! Each resort will give you a listing of your p.s.'s when you check in, but only for the time you are with them. Don't panic if they aren't all there at your first resort!

Thanks for the replies. All the advice is great. JESW(Jill), I knew you were doing the same split. I got my inspiration from you. totally cool.

Be prepared....NONE of this happened for us. We were led to check in at the front desk and there was no "golden card". ????? I don't want to be a downer, but my stay at the CR 14th floor level was horrid. For what we paid/night I think we should have recieved some special treatment. There was NONE.

When we stayed on the 14th floor at CR in 2002, we didn't check in upstairs either. I think it is a case if they are busy upstairs.

But unlike your experience Lives4Disney, everything else was great.

As an FYI, you NEVER NEVER NEVER check in upstairs at BWI. We've stayed there four times now and always checked in downstairs and have not read of anybody else checking in upstairs.

So true, I had forgotten that you check in at the front desk at the BWI CL. The others I've always been "taken upstairs" to check in except the GF--that was their mistake and not the norm.

we stayed on the 12th floor last month and we were given a key by the bellhop to check in on the 12th floor they were notified we were on our way up and had an envelope waiting with all our ps in it we had excellen service for the entire trip
