checking in without magicbands

This is my first post, but I've been reading for almost a year. You guys are awesome and have answered so many questions, but I have one I couldn't find an answer for.

We are staying at BLT (closed on our contract this spring) for the first time in late January. My parents are meeting us (me, DH and kiddos) but will arrive at the resort several hours before us. All the magic bands were shipped to us so they won't have theirs upon arrival. Do I need to fedex them their bands, or will disney give out generic gray bands at check in? They will probably want to be able to walk over to MK in addition to having access to the room. Thanks!

I would set up their MDE account and send them their bands.

They can use them for DME and it will reduce the chance for problems at check in.

On our December trip, we had a "glitch" at checkin...
We had a split stay, 2 nights, AK Jambo, 2 nights VGF. We set up our MDE and were sent 2 sets of MBs which we BROUGHT WITH US! The Dining Plan was added to both reservations.

At checkin, there was a problem with our dining plan somehow.
The windup is that somehow an "extra magic band" at checkin had been added to our MDE. The CM's were EXCELLENT at checkin at AK Jambo in trying to resolve, but it took MUCH LONGER than necessary. Everything would have been fine if the "extra magic" band had not been added!
Still don't understand why an extra set of magic bands was added to our account when we had both sets of customized magic bands in our possession at checkin!

SEND your parents the customized MB's sent to you to avoid problems!
