Checking in without credit card

We are going to beach club next month and I was wondering has anyone here checked in with their debit/credit card? We don't use credit cards and I was wondering do they put a hold on your account and if so when you check out how long does it take before the hold is taken off? I am wondering if it is better to just take out cash?

You don't need to put a card on file. You have to pre pay accommodation so the card is only for charging privileges. You can do without charging privileges and just pay everything with your debit card and have no hold.

You just won't be able to charge to your room if there is no debit or credit card linked to it. That means no using your magic band to make purchases in the parks or to pay for meals.

That's what I was thinking and it leaves me trying to decide if I should use my debit/credit card. The idea of being able to use the magic band sounds great,however I don't want money held up for a week after I check out. Thanks for helping me out everyone!!

I've never been charged a hold for charging. They do limit the amount you can change to the room before your credit card is charged based on hotel level so it is like their was of ensuring any loss isn't too high. I think it is $500 for value, $1000 for moderate, and $1500 for deluxe. That doesn't get charged until you reach it though.

Yes. I don't ever remember a holding fee any time I have stayed at a Disney hotel including with my debit card on file.

I was able to put a combination of cash and a disney gift card on my account at check in to use towards room charging.

This was in 2010 though, I 'm not sure if this policy is still allowed.

I talked to my TA and she found out there are no holds on debit cards. Thanks to everyone for answering. I fell 100% better about the situation!

My suggestion is to keep track of your spending though. That was one of the points of the ease of the MB....have people just tap their MB to spend and not think about how much or how often they are spending. It's easy to lose track and overspend with the MB.

You can also stop by the front desk and get your daily room charges applied as you wish, daily, or every other day...
