Checking in without APH using APH rates

Suppose you booked a rate with the APH discount but were planning on picking up your annual pass at the park, will they allow that or do you have to show them your annual pass when you check in?

I have not had to do this, but I would imagine that if you purchase your AP after check in that you will be able to present the proper documentation prior to check out and that should satisfy them. As long as the AP is purchased on the same day as you check in they should not have a problem with it.
