I will have purchased an AP prior to checkin at the end of February. From what I was told by CRO, I need to have the actual AP in order to receive the proper rate at check in. We're arriving at 9:30 at night. Where will I activate my AP prior to check in? I'm staying at POR and I'm a DVC member...what are my options to activate my AP prior to check in? Thanks for the help!

Your voucher should be sufficient to check in. I booked an AP rate 3 times last year and was never asked once to show it at check in. If it does become an issue with you, I'm sure they'd let you wait until the next morning to activate it.

We were just there last week, booked one night at POR and 3 nights at WL with our AP, neither front desk asked for our AP.

I was just at CBR and was not asked for my AP, but when I was booking with CRO they were able to tell in the computer I had an AP. (I know this because she was like what else can we help you with ticktes? And I told her I have an AP and she goes duh I saw that (it was a force of habit for her to ask that she told me)).

Good! this makes me feel better. I didn't want to have to scamp over to Downtown Disney's Guest Relations at 9:30 pm at night with 3 kids to activate my AP. If we were arriving in the morning, I wouldn't be worried, but I think the kids will be tired and looking forward to some sleep before we go to the Magic Kingdom in the morning. :) Thanks for the words of wisdom DIS'ers! :worship:

We just returned from AKL. Our annual passport was not only asked for but closely examined. The CM stared at it for several minutes before handing it back and saying okay. The CM who took my reservations through CRO stressed I needed a AP when I checked in - I asked if a voucher would be okay in case we arrived late and I was told a voucher is not acceptable. I don't know if they are getting tougher with checking AP's or not or if it is just some CM's. This is the first time that ours was ever checked.

We had AP discount at the AKL in Dec. and they asked to see it and I showed them the voucer and they were ok with that. Seams like it is who checks you in when.

First - to answer your question. Yes, you can trade your voucher for AP at DTD until pretty late. We went to guest services about 11:00PM our first night and bought ours. I had AP rates at both BWI and WL. When checking in both times I asked if they wanted to see my AP and both said it wasn't necessary.

I was also told when making my reservation that I needed to have the AP at checkin. Here's what I'm planning on doing. I'm going to call the resort directly right before we leave and ask them if I need to have my active AP or if I can use my voucher. You could even call from your cell phone on your way from the airport.

We have only been asked once to see our AP. That happened to be the time when we hadn't actually bought it yet. We told the CM that we haven't gotten it yet and they were fine with that and still gave us the rate.

From what I can tell, it all depends on who you get to check you in. It seems that those who are fairly new check up on everything to make sure it is right.

Sadly due to the fact some people will try to scam Disney, more and more resorts are being very careful and checking APs.

I would call the resort as suggested and ask if you can use the voucher to check in and then you could stop back later with the activated AP.

Truely you won't know what your resort is requiring until you check in. As stated many have been checked and some in the past have not.
