Checking in to hotel on night of wedding-help!

So, I'm in a bit of a dilemma and seeking some advice.

We are getting married at the S/D in December, 2011. We are staying at the Swan the night before our wedding, just to make it easier on ourselves for the late morning ceremony we are having. We have a lunch reception to follow.

We are supposed to check into the WL Honeymoon Suite (concierge level) that night & we are staying there for the next week.

I am trying to figure out how the heck we are going to be able to move our luggage from the Swan to the WL. It's not a WDW hotel, but do you think the concierge would agree to send someone to move our bags to the WL?

I just don't want this to be a hassle or have to lug all that stuff on the bus after such a long day.

Any thoughts or alternate ideas?

Also, stupid question, but can we check in on the phone so we can garuntee our room before we get there?

Thanks! :)

My suggestion would be to stay 2 nights at the Swan and move to WL after. Besides having to move your luggage, one of you is going to have to hassle with checking out and then checking into WL, and you'll be room-less from 11am or noon until 3pm on your wedding day. Maybe not a big deal cuz you'll be otherwise occupied, but... :teeth: That way, after lunch, you could pop back up to your room and take a nap if you wanted, or just freshen up. Then you can deal with checkout and luggage and all the next day.

Alternatively, what if you checked into WL a day sooner and just got transportation to the Swan for your wedding day? I thought I read that they include a readyroom for the bride in certain S&D wedding packages—surely they'd find a place you guys could hang out in on the wedding day.

All I know is, I would not want to hassle with checking in or out anywhere on my wedding day. :goodvibes

We were going to swap rooms on our wedding day, and like Lurkyloo said it seemed far too stressful so I will be moving rooms the day before the wedding.

The Swan will move your cases to Wilderness Lodge though!

Even though the Swan is not a Disney hotel, they will still do a bag transfer to another hotel. My husband did this, as he was staying at the Swan prior to the wedding, and I was at the Poly with my MOH so I did the same as we were checking into the GF for our honeymoon begining the day of our wedding
This turned out to be a DISASTER! :headache:
We were doing a small escape wedding and checked into the GF around 8pm. Neither of us had our luggage waiting. We called down to the desk to see what happened and long story short - neither of us had ou luggage until close to midnight! We had to sit around the room in our wedding attire, or walk around the resort in it!
WE couldn't get too-o comfy because we had to wait for the bell hop to arrive :rolleyes1

That sucks!! I think we are going to make sure we have a small bag packed with clothes to change into after the wedding that we just bring over ourselves. Our reception should be all over and done with by 4:30pm so I guess it's good that we will have a little more time to play with.

We thought about switching to the WL the night before the wedding, but the wedding is at the Swan & they are throwing in an upgraded room for free at the Swan or Dolphin so it just doesn't make sense to move. I'd rather be stressed with lodging after the wedding than be stressed with trying to get to the wedding on time beforehand!

Do you have a best man?

Ask them to take care of it for you.

I would also pack two bags so that you do not have to worry about the transfer of the bag from the Swan on the first night. Just pack a day bag with the essentials. Give it to the Best Man. Have him check in and setup the rom for you.
