Search function is not working so well for me here so yet, another question-
What are check in times and check out times at the resorts as a DVC member- is it different for regular guests?

Checkin time is "after 4:00" - you may check in eariler, but your room may not be ready - your room may not be ready after 4:00 sometimes!

Checkout time is 11:00 - DVC has no provision for late checkout and needs to turn their rooms around quickly so that you can get into your room at 4:00!

And when they say "after 4PM" many times they mean AFTER 4PM. Could be as late as 5, 6 or 7PM. It just depends on how the room was left by the previous guests.

I agree on that one. I've never gotten into a 2 bedroom before 5:00PM.

Wow! Well we would be driving but still- Would we be able to chk or hold our luggage somewhere so we can at least "explore" the place some until it would be ready? That is a whole day gone just about waiting for our room! This would be our 1st trip to Disney, the resorts, anything & everything Disney- I am so psyched- probably more than the kids and really want everything to go smoothly- one of most important days to us (Hubby & I) is the day we get there to get relaxed and after a long drive actually start feeling "vacation" has started for us. I have thought of aflight but we have 5 kids and the gas would be cheaper by far!

You can check in when you get there. The room may be ready early. It really depends on the time of year you go. If room is not ready, you can check your bags with bell services and enjoy the parks or the resort. We always pack a small bag with swim suits and tan lotion just in case our room is not ready. Have a magical vacation!:)

We've only had to wait for a room once - and that time we tried checking in at 8:30 am and our room was ready about 2:00. We usually show up at 2:00 and get into a room right away.

But yes, they will hold everything and give you your room keys and get you all set up - they will not tell you your room (or generally even hint about its location), but give you a card with a number to call and check to see if you can get into your room.

We also make sure we have a daybag with swim stuff in.

Room/villa availability depends greatly on what time of year you're heading down in. I have been able to get into a villa early just one time. All the other times I've had to wait until at least 4:00 and some times it was 5 or so!!
So....go and checkin as soon as you arrive. You can leave your bags with Bell Services. They can then bring it to your room when you are able to get in...just give them a call.
Then, head off and enjoy the resort or head to a park. You will be given a phone number to call to see if your room is ready. Just be careful....I've called that number, and been told my villa is all ready for us. But, twice I have gone to the villa and found housekeeping still there, in the middle of cleaning...go figure!!

We have actually had very good luck by the sound of the replies posted here. Everytime we have gone to a DVC, our room was ready.:thumbsup2
We usually get to Disney by 1 PM at the latest fromt he airport.
Wait times in the lobby are also almost non-existent at the times we have shown up. Worst case has been that we were the second or third person / group waiting in line and the wait was never over 5 minutes to start the check-in process.:yay:
