A few questions about check in:

1) We are arriving at CBR by around 11:30am. We've got a king sized bed, lake view reserved (payed extra money for this so I'm assuming it's garunteed). Check in isnt until 3pm. Do we stop by the desk when we arrive and let them know we are here (or check in early) and then head out to the parks? Do we need to call CBR at 3pm to officially check-in? I really don't want to have to waste time heading back to CBR at 3pm just to check in.

2) We are doing a split stay. On the day we move to AKL, we are planning to do all day at MK. We wanted to get there for rope drop. For AKL, we have a savannah booked with queen sized bed and bunk beds. We put in a request for the Arusha savannah and I really DON'T want to end up with a construction-ridden savannah.

So, how do we check-in at AKL that day? Should we skip rope drop and head straight to AKL from CBR first thing in the morning? Check in isn't until 3pm though, so can they even assist us first thing in the morning?

We are just two adults (no kids), so I guess I'd sacrifice rope drop for the requested savannah room, but of course I'd rather do both:rolleyes1

We don't need to access our room early-we don't care about that. I just don't want to inconvenience the day for check-ins and I do want the Arusha savannah.

We will be there next week:cool1:
It's not supposed to be too busy (I think), so maybe that will help our chances at getting our requested savannah? I did call a few days ago, just to confirm the ressie and also confirm that the requests are in the computer.

Advice on best ways to handle check in anyone?

Thanks!:goodvibes

You do not have to wait until 3pm to check in, however your room may not be ready before that. Personally, I'd check when you get to the resort and head to the parks. At the moderates, if you booked a specific kind of room (king bed) you are guaranteed to have it.

You don't have to miss rope drop. When we switch resorts, we like to go to a park in the morning, then leave around noon-1pm to go check at our new resort. I think the earliest you can check in is 6am (of course, no guarantee that your room will be ready then). So if you wanted to, you could go to AKL first thing in the morning and still make it to MK for rope drop.

Enjoy your trip !!

You don't have to return to CBR at 3:00pm to check-in. They will give you a card with a phone # to call to get your room # (if it's not ready when you check-in). You don't have to call at any particular time.

When I switched resorts back in Dec I went first thing 7:30 am, they gave me a card with a number to check on room status through the day and off I went.
Personally I would check in early in the morning as you have a better chance of having your room requests granted. I did not want Ranchos at CSR and sure enough they had me out there. I reiterated my request and they gave me a great location with an upgrade to a water view! So the earlier the better in my book!

Great answers everyone-thank you:goodvibes

So, I guess we will plan to check into CBR as soon as we get off of the ME and head out to our day.

It looks like we'll plan to arrive to AKL at 8am or so to check in and hopefully get our requests and then head over to MK for rope drop at 8:45.

IS rope drop really worth it for two adults?
What do they do exactly?

the rope drop ceremony is cute but what we liked is being able to ride a lot of rides really fast! Like five different rides in about 45 mins! Thats the true value of being there at rope drop!
