Checking In - Getting your room

When checking in, I'm assuming the person checking the party in has to be listed on the reservation.

So my question is, can you call ahead and allow (or get approval for) someone that is not listed on the reservation to check you in? Have some note listed on the reservation or something similar.

If my parents are going to arrive quite a bit earlier than I am, can I have them check us into our room?

TIA

I would imagine that it would help if your parents have in-hand a printed copy of your reservation confirmation. Just guessing -- but it could also be helpful (to the checking-in CM) if you and your parents have the same last name.

I always make the reservation (in my name), and I usually check us in. But my husband has checked us in, as well. We ALWAYS have hard-copy reservation confirmations with us.

I'd suggest that you pose the question to CRO or your travel agent or whoever you made the reservation with.

I've always been asked for ID when checking in at a WDW resort. They get my information (name, address, etc.) off of my ID. Also, the official policy is that everyone on the reservation must be present at check-in.

Ugh.

Thanks for the help to you both.

Also, the official policy is that everyone on the reservation must be present at check-in.

It makes sense that someone else couldn't check us in. Rats....although I figured that was the case.

? unless i'm missing something, the only time everyone needs to be there at check-in is during the free dining promotion. AFAIK, any adult listed on the reservation should be able to check in. just note that if it's a room-only, the balance is payable upon check-in.

I don't know what the stated policy is. However, very seldom has my entire family been standing there with me when I check in. And never have they asked me whether my family is present with me. Our reservation is always room-only -- so maybe it is true that the policy is different when you have the dining plan. They've always verified that the names on the reservation are correct before issuing the Resort IDs.

Just to clarify - I have never been asked to see my entire party at check-in, I just saw that it's usually written on my confirmation. It very well may be only for free dining, I can't remember, but I know I've always been asked for my ID so they could look up my reservation.

I think the OP was asking if someone who is not on their reservation can check-in for them in their absence. I'm pretty sure this is a no-no. I'd call the resort to make sure though.

Brad touched on it.

The 'everyone present at check-in rule' only applies during free dining promotion that I'm aware of.
