When we arrive in Aug we will be in the late evening hour. Maybe 6 pm. Where would you go for dinner on the first night. We are thinking of Epcot just cause they are open late with the extra hours that night. Our family's first trip to Fort Wildeness and Disney. We are staying in the cabins in the Fort cause with my Wife and I plus our four boys Six is a full house. Our arrival dat is Aug 23rd. Cant wait. We have a ten day pass so not worried about blowing one of our days on just an evening.

Epcot would be a good choice if you didn't care to use day. If there were was extra magic hours that evening that would be a plus.

After traveling all day we'd be exhausted. We'd eat at Trail's End and then crash!

Being too tired is what I am afraid of. The trails end option does sound good. We are on the Quick Dining plan so I guess thats counter service. How is the Trails end food??

I guess it depends on how long you have traveled and if you are tired or not, which you would not know until you have gotten there.... The Trails End has been good everytime we have been there, it is a buffett or you can get a pizza from there and just kick back at the cabin, we have done this a few times as well.... But, if you are not tired and are up to getting over to Epcot, then I would go for it, as there are many more options and I love Epcot at night.... Whatever you do, you will have a great time, enjoy your stay!!

Silly question. Do you have a season pass? If not, why waste a days worth of your ticket just to eat inside one of the parks... Just eat at one of the resorts or out on the town.

Unless you really wanted to spend time in the parks the night you arrive, you have several options. You can get to the Contemporary by boat, or to Wilderness Lodge by taking the nature trail or boat. And then there's Trail's End. The food in Trail's End is quite good. If you wanted a fun dinner you might consider the Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge. It's a hoot.

If you're too tired to go to Epcot, there is no counter service at The Fort. You will need to hop a boat to WL, the CR or drive to PO resort for closest counter/quick service dining.

This is true. No counter service at the Fort. The Trails End buffet is good but doesn't fit for CS. WL, CR, or PO are convenient for a quick dinner.

We always get a Giddy Up and Go take-out from Trails End on check-in day. It's a 10-piece chicken dinner with sides and biscuits/cornbread for $25. It's not on your dining plan but it is the most convenient.

For whatever reason, we always seem to head over to Downtown Disney our first night. Lots of choices for dinner, lots to look at. Gets us amped up for the week (like we need any more 'amping').

I'm guessing your kids will be hungry by the time you arrive and tired - I don't think I'd take the time to hike all the way to Epcot for dinner. I'd head to the Contemporary for counter service then, if your budget allows I'd get each child a $5-10 arcade card and let them play at the Contemporary arcade (they earn tickets for small prizes) or back to the Fort to swim, then to bed so they are rested for the next morning.

Keep in mind that if you arrive around 6 p.m. you will still have a couple hours of daylight left. I think I would get a Giddyap and Go at TE, then maybe take in the campfire and movie at the Meadows.

If you go to Downtown Disney we always like to eat at The Earl of Sandwich the food there is pretty good and reasonable.

Perhaps Chef Mickey's at the CR. It make a powerful first impression. It's a buffet so everyone is happy and it also has Character visits (to your table). And it's a fun boat ride there and back.

We usually do the giddy up and go as previously mentioned, plenty of food left over for a few lunches. We have also grabbed a pizza and ate at one of the tables near the boat docks and enjoyed watching people coming and going.

IMO easy Trails End gitty-up-and-go take out chicken meal. We always plan on that as our first meal at FW since the leftovers for the two of us make several lunches and maybe enough chicken for another dinner later on. If you have two cell phones you can drop off DW to get the food and go to the cabin and start unloading and once DW gets the food run up and pick her up. What I do is drive up and drop DW off and then either go back to the site or maybe park at the Meadows until DW calls and says she is leaving TE. Don't waste an admission day on your pass just to go eat and you probably need ressies now for anything at EPCOT and you have to show up on time or go hungry.

These are so good. Thank You for all the help. At this point I am guessing we will see what kind of shape we are in when we arrive. I think the chicken and a relaxing swim will be in good order.

Since I assume you are coming from Ontario. Are you driving straight through or stopping along the way. This would probably determine how tired you and your family would be.

Since you have the quick service meal plan I would suggest the Comtempoary or WL for a quick service enjoy that resort then return to watch the movie or fireworks from the beach at the fort

If you get in earlier, go swimming then keep the same plan for dinner

My thoughts on this are different from most of the posts. Since you have counter service meals, I would look up the Downtown Disney restaurants that honor it and use it.
