Hey everyone,

I haven't posted in a really long time. DH and I have been extremely busy but are really hoping that are February trip for the 7-16 goes through.

I haven't been on because as some of you who have read my posts before knew that I was the sole care taker of my grandfather well.. Pop passed away two Sundays ago. Its been very hard as I wake up every morning and really have nothing to do. Its just the DS 17months and I at home while DH and DS7 are at work and school. I did start doing online school work... (does the fort have free wifi?) so that has kinda kept me busy.

We are getting ready to close the pop up until we leave, I took the curtains all down and am planning on putting new curtains up and possibly new slip covers we will see. We are also going to be looking for a potty to use with a shower tent outside. With that being said do those of you with one just roll it to the comfort station or do you get a site that has a sewer hook up and dump there. Any tips that all of you could give for the feb. trip would be great. We had looked at putting our own shower system in the pop up but im just not sure I am up for all of that work lol.

Suup !
so sorry to hear about grandfather.
but WELCOME back,,glad ya'll getta trip to the Fort soon, :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about your Grandfather...
Yes Wifi is free... We just stayed there in June we had free cable and wifi.

I don't know where to dump your potty but I would think you could do it at the comfort station. Also I would think you would use the comfort station to take your showers..
We have a motorhome and half of us used the comfort station to take showers, I was on the half that used motorhome... lol
But my daughter, her friend, boyfriend and grandson used comfort station and they loved them...

Hope you enjoy your trip...

Hi ya Rland8228. You're right, I haven't seen you post in a while. You did a good thing to take care of your grandfather and there's probably a spot in Heaven reserved for you for doing so.

To answer your question about portable potty, your situation is similar to me in my popup with the built in cassette potty (a Thetford). Whether in your situation or mine, at some point the thing is full and needs to be emptied. I've stayed in non-sewer sites at the Fort and what I did in that case was put it in the car and found an empty site to use its sewer hookup.

Even when the Fort is fully booked, people are always coming and going all day long so you can find a vacant Full, Preferred, or Premium site to stop at for 5 minutes and dump out. The Fort has no centralized dump station so this is one way to handle it. You could also take it to the Comfort station and try to empty it into a toilet and flush it a couple times to choke the contents down. The benefit of the site also is it has the water spigot with the famous green hose to rinse it out down the sewer drain as well.

February is a nice time to visit. I remember it being cool in the shade but very clear and warm in the sun. Nights are still crisp and you will benefit from the low winter rates but they should spike near the end of your visit when Valentine's Day weekend starts. Have fun!

Welcome back. So sorry to hear of Pops passing. I hope your days go by fast until your February trip.

So sorry about your grandfather :grouphug:

As for the porta potty. When we had one we had a rule about only "liquid 1" in it and I just dumped it in the comfort station bathrooms at whatever CG we were at (Fort included) then once we were home I'd give it a good rinse along with a little dash of bleach. Keeping it to just liquids really helped keep it pretty neat and clean.
