We have an II exchange into BCV next year but will probably not be checking in until the next day. I assume that I can just call the resort and let them know we won't be in until the next day. Has anyone done this before? Anyone encountered any problems doing this?

Thanks

Call Member Services and have them note your late arrival on the reservation. But still call the resort on the day the exchange starts to "remind" them. If you don't, they might cancel the whole thing on you.

We have done this on two different trips. I called and had it noted on the reservation and then I also made sure that I called on the listed check in date. The only problem we had was that the first time they tried to tell us that we had to wait until 4:00 check in time for our room on the later arrival day, but we said NO WAY, that room was officially ours since the day before and it would not be right if they had "double dipped" - taken money from someone else for the room we already paid for. The second time we did it, I just said that we would be checking in sometime the second day with the possibility of a middle of the night arrival on the official checkin day like 4 or 5 am. No comments were made the second time.

We've had a number of exchanges in but we've only checked in later once. We arrived the day after. We did let them know we would do so but did not call the official arrival day extra. You'll need the DVC reservation number (not the II conf #) and call the number for MS on the confirmation. One other occasion I had a friend who checked in and stayed 4 days, then we took over for the last 3 with a full cleaning in between. One thing to think about is if you get the DDP, you have to get all 7 nights even if you arrive late and/or leave early.
