Arg! OK. I'm desperately wanting to rent some points but the whole availability thing is throwing me.

As a nonDVC member can I go to the website of the particular resort (s) I want and check the availability of dates/rooms, etc.? IOW, if it is available to me via the website of the resort, is it available to me as renter of DVC points (or to you as a DVC member)? What is the best way to go about confirming availability so I don't send a seller on a goose chase trying to track down accommodations for me?

Thanks for your help!

Going to the website won't do you any good. They only show rooms that are open for cash reservations. Pretty much the only way to do this is find the member that you are going to rent from and have them do the "foot work". The only way to find availability is through Member Services and you have to be a member to call for reservations.

Eva is right. Members can't even tell what it available unless they speak to MS (only open M-F). In fact, what you see as available on the Disney website (or other travel sites) may not actually be available to members to book and rent. They keep two different groups of inventory -- cash and member.

Part of renting points is being willing to act as "agent" for the folks to whom you are selling your reservations.
