Checking E-mail at the Resorts?

We are heading to WDW one month from today! :cool1:

Are there places at the resorts where you can long on to the Internet? You know, some kind of cyber-cafe? I would rather not bring a laptop computer on our trip, but I do need to check my work e-mail periodically while we are gone.

Thanks for your help!

I think when we were there a few years ago, my boyfriend checked his at Coronado Springs Resort. I think he had to pay, but I can't remember. Since that hotel is more for conferences, they would be a good place to check.

I believe at resorts that have it, you can have interenet access for $10 per 24 hour time period....

CSR has it.. if you use the internet in their buisness room its something outrageous like $10 for every 15 minutes. You can also get wireless in your room, I believe, but that would require you to have a laptop with a wireless card.

Kinkos was cheapest for those without a laptop, and also has a Hotspot for WiFi:

12181 S Apopka Vineland Rd
Orlando, FL 32836-6802
USA
Phone: (407) 465-0085
Fax: (407) 465-0442

Was always busy with vacationers!

Otherwise I believe it's $10/15 minutes to use a computer at Disney business centers.

The cheaper terminals which used to be located in Epcot and some of the deluxe and moderate hotels by the payphones seem to be gone completely.

Yes, my dh has tried this a couple of different times at the CR. Problem is, you can't open your email. You see it's there, but you can't open it. I've heard other people report that they can't open email, either.

I had no problem opening mine, but based on the slow connection and high cost, I ended up at Kinko's.

I also remember my husband checked his in the park (I think at Epcot)last year. He just had to put in a certain amount of money and was given like a minute to check it. He had to do it a few times.

I went looking in all the usual places in 12/2004 - the german pavillion, payphone area at BC and YC and they are not there anymore FYI

Options:

1) If you're staying at a Convention Resort (CR, GF, BWI, YC, BC, CRS) rooms are all wired for broadband access if you have a laptop with you for $9.95 per day.

2) All non Convention Resorts have in-room dial up access.

3) Convention Resorts have a place in their Convention Centers called "The business center" at which you can pay an hourly fee to use a computer ($10 per hour last I knew)

4) Some resorts (I know AKL for sure) have public access internet stations, usually just of their lobbies.

5)As others have mentioned go off-site

Is the one in AKL still there? I couldn't find it in December 2004 either...

or I am just getting blind....

Thanks for all your posts! I just called WL and spoke with a CM who told me there are computers with internet access available in their Business Center for $9.95 for 24 hours. Wow! That seems like a lot of money to pay just to check e-mail! Maybe I won't check my work e-mail after all! Hey, I'll be on vacation, right?

We went on a Disney cruise last winter and I think the cost to get on the internet on the ship was $3.75 per minute. I guess that is a lot to pay too!

Thanks again,
Gayl

The $10 for 15 mins. is at the business centers. If you have a laptop you might want to bring it so you can surf at your leisure.

Psh! You're on vacation, don't even THINK about work! :-)

I beg to differ - I checked my email in December and Santa brought me a new job which will hopefully allow me to visit the mouse even more often! :jumping4:

(OK, I don't suggest it normally, but.......... )

Here is an update to my e-mail checking problem. My DH is a gadget guy and owns a Treo (a cross between a cell phone and a Palm Pilot). He can get on the internet via his phone and has set it up to log into my work e-mail account. Now, I don't have to pay exhorbitant prices at WDW to be a responsible worker!

I ran away from home last minute a few weekends ago and decided that I HAD to check my email to see if anyone had noticed.

Went to business centre at YC and checked email - nope, nobody had figured out where Bavaria was that weekend!

Was the only person around after a very busy weekend, and sweet lady in business centre (shhhhhhhhhhhhhh!) didn't charge me!

I do not believe there is anything in the AKL lobby. We had to use the dial-up connection from our room. .75 for the local call but we got disconnected a lot. tried three different AOL local numbers and they all got disconnected a lot. .75 everytime you reconnect does add up.
