Checking Costco prices

I just noticed that I can get a brick of cheddar cheaper at the supermarket than at Costco. It's $2 per pound at superm. and $3 pound for Kirkland brand at Costco.

Maybe you can post other items that you've found cheaper too??

I have seen 8 oz of cheese for $2 (and that is a pretty good price), but a pound?

There is plenty of things I won't buy at Costco. Because I usually get BOGO, definately cheaper than Costco. That would include:

paper items
yogurt
canned vegetables...

wait, probably easier to say what I do buy at Costco, otherwise, I buy at the grocery store

I think their Palmerno Pizza 3 packs are a pretty good price. Ususally a little better than BOGO

frozen bagged vegetables

Milk

certain meats

household items, clothing, electronics (but not grocery items)

I don't think their bakery items are that good, and pretty expensive. I go to Sam's for that

I also want to know if you are sure of that price for 16 ounces? Our grocery is more.

The reason I prefer Costco for most things is because of their decent prices on Organics.

We love Kirkland organic:

Carrots
Salsa
Spinach
Jam
Peanut Butter
other vegetables
Almond butter

I also love their frozen black bean burgers

Their Bocca burgers are a better deal than almost anywhere, and it is even cheaper to crumble them and use them for meat substitute than buying the actual meat substitutes.

WE LOVE COSTCO!

Costco has the best price on milk around here. We also like getting our vinegar (for cleaning and laundry), HE laundry soap, nutella, organic salsa, pesto and some meats from Costco. They have a large frozen lasagna for about $10 that is excellent. When we want to get pizza out we'll get a supreme to go from the food court. It is a huge pizza for about $11 and is sometimes on sale for $7.

It really depends on the area. BEfore I joined, I went and noted prices and compared them (from my memory) to what I pay in stores. Sometimes when items go on sale, it is cheaper to get it in the store instead of Costco.

I have found our cheese to be on par with grocery store prices.

Always pays to pay attention--sometimes they do get you.;)

I like to buy my frozen chicken, tilapia and hamburger meat at Costco. I'll have to try their frozen black bean burgers.

Is it the same cheese? I mean REALLY the same?

"Kirkland" has some pretty high standards with their suppliers. Yes, sometimes the price is cheaper down the street, and sometimes I just can not bring myself to buy such a quantity of any one item - but I don't think I have ever ever been disappointed in the quality of any Kirkland product.

We buy the pediasure drinks and when they are on sale at the supermarket they are cheaper then at Costco and I usualy have coupons too,
Also most paper products (paper towels & toilet paper) if they go on sale at my local shoprite and I have coupon they are always chaper then at Costco. I have a notebook that I have all my prices in.
Now when meat is on sale at costco it is always cheapr and better quality then at my local store. You have to know our prices and quality to get the best deals.

Well, it's not what you asked for but-if you ever have a need for Mac n Cheese(frozen), Costco's premade is really good! My mother in law makes homemade that is amazing and even she was impressed. If I'm not in a hurry, I can make it myself but this was for a big, family meal and I was prepping other stuff.

Very true. I bought some really gross cheddar cheese from Sam's club. Sam's does sell Land O Lakes, so I am careful to get that if I go to Sam's, but I much prefer Costco to Sam's.

OP here- Yes, the price I found the cheese is $0.99 8oz at Shoprite on sale and it is the Great Lakes brand.

OK. I thought it was the regular price. That makes sense.
Once in a blue moon I score cheese at that price (at the grocery store) but it is rare.

I think I will look into those black bean burgers too. I love black beans.

Overall Costco is cheaper than most stores locally.
I cannot get any decent cheese for 2.00 a pound here. The generic cheese at walmart is 2.50 for 8 oz or more. We pay 4.99 for Sharp Cheddar at our Costco for the brick.

Where I do find cheaper prices is in toilet paper and paper towels. Our local Menards is .49 cents a roll and so I buy a 30 roll box. It goes on sale frequently for .40 cents a box as well and toilet paper I just buy the 24 rolls of 475 sq. ft for 5.50.
Oh I also buy the generic cereal at the local grocery stores as it goes fast and my family does not care if it is name brand or not.

I also do not care for the milk at our Costco it tastes watery. It is 2.12 for that milk and 2.49 for Milk at Meijer or Walmart and their milk tastes better.

Overall I love costco though have been a member myself since they opened their store here in the midwest and was a member under my family for long before that back home on the west coast :)
