We plan to bring a booster seat for DD but wondered what kind of bag should we put in it. We are flying on AirTran. I assume is counts as a checked bag?

We have a backless booster that we are putting in a normal suitcase.

Hey, I"m also from St. Louis and flying airtran!

We have done the booster in the suitcase before and yes it worked well but this time we hoping to reduce the number of suitcases we will have to bring because we have 5 sharing a rental car instead of the usual 3. We are hoping to find some kind of bag that we could use? I know Southwest will provide a bag for boosters and I wonder if AirTran will. This is the first time we are using Airtran.

No, it does not. We have used SW most recently, but flew Airtran in May, 2008. They did not count it as a checked piece of baggage. I'm pretty sure that none of the airlines do, but I could be wrong. None of the airlines that we have flown have counted a carseat as a carry on either. So, I would think it goes both ways.

But the rules change all of the time, so who knows???

I gate checked mine on Spirit.

On the latest upcoming shes just planning on doing the stroller and carseat right up to the gate again as it worked last June :wizard:

I used to just throw it in a plastic bag. Mine flew many, many trips like that. It really is only to keep it from getting dirty or wet.
