We are staying in a cabin at Fort Wilderness in May (wohoo!!), and my husband will be arriving earlier in the day than myself and my daughter. Should he have any problem checking in to the cabin without the two of us there? I can't imagine that Disney requires the entire party to be present for check-in, do they? Also, what needs to happen with Magic Bands at checkin? Is that when they are linked with our credit card so that they can be used to charge in the parks? Can my husband get both of our bands linked when he checks in, or will I need to stop by checkin with my band after I arrive to get my bands linked? I plan to do the "online checkin" later this month, but I honestly don't really even know what that means and how it affects the check-in process when we arrive.

1. You don't need all the people on the reservation to be present at check in. Your husband can do it.

2. If you do online check in and link a credit card then all of the MagicBands in your MDE account should be linked to your reservation and you should be able to charge without bringing all the bands to the check in. But sometimes there is a glitch and a band does need to be linked. When your husband checks in they will make sure his band works for charging. If you have an extra band then you can give it to him and he can make sure that it is linked. If you don't have an extra MagicBand then just keep your band with you. The band should work to unlock your resort room and for charging privileges. But in the rare case that there is a glitch, you can go to the desk to get it fixed. But theoretically it should work.

3. By doing online check in you make the actual process go faster. And some people will be eligible for the "direct to room" service.

Disney does not require the entire party to be present for checkin.
Your Magic Bands reflects your My Disney Experience (MDE) account. That is where all of your information is stored. It is NOT on the Magic Band itself. If you do online checkin, and add a credit card to your account along with a PIN Code, you should be all set. Your Magic Band should work to open your Cabin door without you going to the checkin desk

We have been separate during check in and I do have my MDE account set up with a pin number for my band and a cc. Everything has gone fine and all bands work for charging, park tickets, and rooms. MDE does really work well to make things easier now. Have a great trip!
