they gave me a one week free trial. It looks good. I used to work in a gym way back when and this one looks decent. The cardo and the weights are seperate so you don't feel stupid or flabby infront of the "Arnolds" lifting weights. There are a lot of aerobics classes that are included in the membership and there is a pool that is included in the basic membership during the winter, it's extra in the summer because it's outdoors. (Ok need to clarify that...they put a dome over it in the winter!!)

I don't know if I am ready for a year committment but I really feel that I am ready to do something. I am tired of being so dang tired!!!!

That's great! I'll bet you see super results if you use your membership regularly.

GOOD FOR YOU!

So will you decide at the end of the week if you are going to get a 1 year membership? Is there a shorter membership you could get just to get a feel for whether this is something you would stick with or not?

Is anyone showing you how to use the equipment or setting up a cardio/weight lifting schedule for you to follow? Are the people who work there friendly? Don't pay attention to the Arnolds, they are probably just really into checking themselves out anyway. Don't let any feelings of insecurity keep you from getting a good workout. Everyone has to start somewhere, and if you give yourself a break you will find that it's really not as intimidating a place as you thought it was! :)

I hope you do join and use your membership alot! That would be great! I have been lifting weights at home for about 7 or 8 weeks now and I am totally amazed at the difference. I keep reading that it takes about 12 weeks to really see results (big results) so if you decide to do this, make sure you stick with it for at least 12 weeks. When I first started lifting, I was disappointed that I didn't get buff immediately (if feels like you should just because your muscles let you know they are starting to be worked!)

Sorry for the long post, but I think that joining a gym is a great thing!!!! Is there anyone you know who would want to join with you? Sometimes having a workout partner makes it easier - then you have someone around you feel comfortable with already AND you know if you set up a date to work out that you can't break it!

Good luck!

Hi

They have a year commitement for the membership. It's free for the end of the summer and then it's resonable per month. The place is nice, it has raquetball and a pool. It isn't all fancy like the Bally's and such it's kind of homey, if a gym can be that way! The people are really nice and they made me feel comfretable about starting in the shape that I am in. My SO may join with me but he does a lot of activity in the summer and would only really use it in the winter, so I am not sure.

The give you a session to measure, weigh and get your BMI or something. Then they set you up on a program and you have a follow up meeting every 3 months after that for the first year. Sounds pretty good to me, they aren't going to throw you into the wolves.... I just need to build up the confidence that when I go in I am not the laughing stalk!
