Because it's likely lower today!

I've been watching Southwest fares for a couple of months now* and today is the FIRST time they've gone down at all, and luckily they went down significantly. I ended up with a $350 credit. :cool1:

Not only did prices drop, but some previously unavailable flights opened up. Our babysitter was originally going to join us on the 15th but there were no Wanna Get Away fares - it didn't show them sold out, just displayed the "book sooner for better fares" message. So we booked her on the 14th, but the flight selection was poor - only 2 flights available at the Wanna Get Away fare level. Today, ALL the flights on the 14th AND 15th are available at WGA fares.

*I track fares daily on a spreadsheet. This one started on November 1 and I purchased fares on November 10.

Not only did I get a credit but we moved from a one stop flight to nonstop! Hurray!

I forgot to add that part - we switched our flights home from a connection that left Orlando at 6:00 and arrived in Albany at 10:30 to a nonstop that leaves Orlando at 8:25 and arrives at 11:10 - 40 minutes later arrival but we depart 2hrs 25min later!

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

We also switched the babysitter from a flight that arrived 11pm to one that arrives at 6pm - she has a stop in BWI but that's a small price to pay for getting in that much earlier!

And between original purchase and today I had converted 3 of the one-way fares from cash to RR, 2 of which I had to pay $50 to extend. So my net cash cost for 4 round-trip tickets to MCO is $828! Considering the babysitter's airfare alone was $521 initially, that is pretty awesome!

It's like a late Christmas present. We were going to be arriving at midnight with three kids and now we'll be arriving at 8:30 instead. What a gift!

that's awesome! so how does that work with southwest, you get a credit you can use later?

Thanks Tara for the heads-up! I was able to shave off $40 per ticket for our April 15th trip from Providence to Orlando. Sadly, our return flight is still $350 per person and I don't expect that to change. I am trying like heck to get our 4 RT tickets under $2,000.

Yes, SW calls them "ticketless travel funds". Just make sure to keep track of the original confirmation number(s) as those are the numbers attached to your TTF.

I also meant to post this yesterday -- I had been checking our flights about 4 times a day for what seems like 3 months straight. Our BUF flights went down significantly -- our arrival flight went down almost $100 per person. Absolutely could not believe it. The prices did not just go down for a few flights, but for every single flight listed. I was able to change my dates and flight times and still get a credit!

I wish we would see some change in SW flights from Baltimore to Florida in April. We have just about decided to forego our April trip this year! The roundtrips are between 280 - 400. Just too much for us. We haven't had a DING for Florida for many months.

We are going on the 15th now instead of the 16th and saving almost $250 :thumbsup2
We too will be flying out of Providence non-stop to Orlando. Can't Wait!

Thanks for posting.....I sure didn't expect fares for spring break to go down! I saved $40 per ticket!

I checked but the prices are still higher than I paid. We're flying out of Hartford on April 16th and returning on the 24th. I booked when they opened (what a crazy experience :scared1:) and think I got a pretty good deal.

I can't wait until April!

Thanks for posting! I just checked and now have a $202 for our one way tickets on April 3rd. Also, I checked our flight down on Airtran and received a $74 from them as well. :thumbsup2

Thank you for posting this. Even though my flight is in March, out of 8 flights posted for our departure date, mine was the ONLY one that was reduced! YAY! 'Only' saved $25 pp but I'll take it for sure!!!
