The title says it all! I received an email from Disney Destinations that I was one of the lucky 1200 who won!.:cloud9::dance3:

Check your emails since you have to respond in 48 hours. The contest ended last night at 11:59 and my email is stamped 4:30 p.m. PST on May 10th. (I corrected this as I had mistakenly posted 4:30 a.m.) My email was in my spam folder so be sure to check it out-now! It comes from Disney Destinations, LLC.

I am now waiting for my return email telling me what to do to get my prize (inc. 2-1 day tickets to DLR). :cool1:

Here's part of my email-

Hopefully I may still win the AP preview event as well so the rest of my family can see it early too!

The best thing is the 20th is the one day during the last 2 weeks of May when my DD11 doesn't have anything to do at school. She's in 6th grade and we were supposed to go to Knott's that day but they (luckily!) rescheduled to the 25th after someone forgot to reserve the buses. LOL!

I will report back as soon as we get home on the 20th. Pictures too (as long as they are allowed!)

Yay! This was the contest for the general public, correct?

I have a feeling you'll get chosen for the AP thing too (unless their computers can check their system and see that you already won this one and that disqualifies you from the AP thing:confused3). I think they are going to give the AP holders less notice, because Disney assumes they are mostly local and just pop on over to the parks on short notice.

But I think that most of the AP holders (at least the local ones) who entered will win slots for ST - there were a lot of times and dates to choose from in that sweepstakes and many of us picked all of them, which left it more flexible. I think what Disney is doing is basically trying to organize the AP holders into groups to ride ST, so that we don't all descend upon the ride at the same time. By having this sweepstakes and having people pick different times, DLR can put everyone into groups and it's a little less chaotic.

If I recall, there was some fine print with the AP contest that said each person chosen could also bring 4 or 5 other AP holders with them (does anyone remember reading that?). That's a lot of leeway to get in and ride the ride. So they are being very good about taking care of the AP holders, one way or the other.

My only hope is that DLR decides to also sneak in some soft openings of the Little Mermaid ride during the Star Tours previews for AP holders!

On the AP contest I put in for 6 people. I'm hopeful that the 2 contests are separate ones. I didn't read anything in the rules that stated you couldn't enter both.

Thanks Sherry. I hope you are right about the AP contest. I did win the sneak preview of TSMM when it opened. Rode it so many times that my are was killing me!:rotfl:

That is the same email I got and I am not an AP holder (yet). If I actually did win, my son and I are going to drive over from AZ.

Edited to add: If I did win, I owe a HUGE thanks to Disneydaz! It was in my spam folder. I keep saying "if" because of the way the email is worded makes it sound like it is not a done deal as of yet.

I could be totally wrong, but I just have a hunch that most AP holders will be chosen and just grouped up differently into the different slots. And you will most likely be picked again!:cool1:

To be honest, I entered the AP thing for all the slots they gave but I have totally forgotten the actual dates and times!:rotfl2: When is the first AP preview date for ST? Is it May 20th? I completely blanked out!

I can't even recall - is this one you just won (for the general public) on one of the AP contest dates too, or is it taking place before/after the AP dates/times?

I remember hearing about that TSMM preview! Now THAT one would have been right up my alley. I don't think I could handle Star Tours too many times in a row - especially since I have a feeling this new version is going to be much wilder than the last version - but I could have gone on TSMM endlessly! My forearm kills me after even one ride on that thing, but I would be delighted to ride it again and again because that is one of my favorites at DLR!

I really hope that DLR decides to sneak in some soft openings for the Little Mermaid on the ST preview days for AP holders. They may not do it for every time slot and day, but at least a couple of those days I bet the AP holders will get lucky and get to do both rides!

I agree on the "if" thing, too! I noticed in the text from Disney Destinations that Dizneydaz quoted above that it sounds non-committal! Even though I think that both you and Dizneydaz will get the preview with no problem, it sounds like DLR wants to cover its tracks and not set anything in stone...just in case.

I think they may wait and let the AP holders know about their specific contest a little bit later (maybe hours later? maybe a day later?) than they are letting the people know for this contest that you and Dizneydaz entered - because they probably assume more out-of-town guests will come in for this general public contest and need more notice, while they probably assume all the AP holders live close.

Yeah, it will be FANTASTIC IF I win. That said, I don't know that my wife will see me spending $500 on an impromptu trip as a victory like me and my son will ;) I think that they might be saying "if" just because they have to verify eligibility.

I am pretty sure that the AP contest said that notification would be on or after May 16th. As an out of state AP holder I am hoping and praying that even though my availability was limited (only 3 of the days) that either my DH or I will still win :thumbsup2

UPDATE: Thanks to all who entered for a chance to attend the “Star Tours Early Departure” at Disneyland park on May 20. The entry period is now closed, and eligibility confirmations are being sent to those who were randomly selected to participate.

We are very excited to provide the opportunity for Disney Parks Blog fans to be among the first in the galaxy to experience the new 3-D attraction at Disneyland Resort, before it officially opens June 3. In order to allow the randomly selected, eligible participants to experience the attraction when Disneyland park opens at 9:00 a.m., event check-in will be from 4 – 7:30 a.m. Good news – Toy Story parking lot will be available to eligible participants starting at 3:30 a.m. (parking fees not included). To commemorate the flight, participants will receive a button proclaiming them to be among the first to experience the new 3-D attraction at Disneyland park.

Thank you so much!:goodvibes I was having problems with my computer on the day I entered the AP thing:headache:, so I just wanted to get in there and enter for each time slot and get off of there before my PC crashed again!:rotfl2: I don't even think I saw what the notification date was, and I completely blanked out on which date the first AP preview was going to be held (though I thought it might be the 20th?? Is that right?). I figured, I'll enter all of them and hopefully be chosen for one!

I hope you and your DH get picked too! At least you could sign up for 3 and increase your chances - that is still better than only being available for one of the days/times!

Wow! Really?

That's Crazy!

If only 1200 win, 2 per win, that's only 2400 guests. I wonder why they want us to check in so early. Maybe for those that want to be "The first" to ride? Hope my DD's graduation practice isn't on that day! If it is I guess she'll just have to wander around at it aimlessly. LOL!

I wonder if there will be other guests there that day from other contest? Anyone hear of any other ones?

Also hoping I can save the 2 DL one park tickets to use later this year to get our AP after they expire! :goodvibes

Sherry, this was not the AP preview contest. Hopefully it will be like the one for TSMM. They was hardly any line and we were allowed to ride once as often as we wanted on our day. I can't remember what days I signed up for either!;)

I hope you are right. I have entered every AP contest over last few years, (Nemo, TSMM, pixie hollow etc.) for every time slot for only 3 people and have never won a slot. :confused3

Maybe this is the lucky one. :surfweb:

Congrats to OP!

I hope there is a number to call and ask questions if I win because I have a ton of them after reading above posts and trying to plan a last-minute trip to Cali.

Just found out my DM won too! :goodvibesHers was also in her spam folder. I too hope there is a number to call with questions. What if I don't care if I'm one of the first to ride? What if I'm fine being the 2000th to ride?

No kidding. 3:30 AM in the Toy Story structure: Can I walk there? Do me and my DS7 need to be there or can I check him in? So many questions. I likely won't be getting in until midnight; I might just have to sleep in the Target parking lot ;) because I would hate to pay for a hotel for 3 hours! Maybe I can just pull him out of school at noon so that I can get there at dinner time. Decisions, decisions! Well, hopefully I win so I have the chance to make the decisions!

That is some crazy business about the early time for the Parks Blog winners! Yikes!:scared1: There will be some very sleepy people dragging themselves out of bed (or out of the Target parking lot!!:rotfl2:) to get on this ride! But at least you'll get the button!:rotfl2:

Yep, it's all about the button for me!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I got it too!! My e-mail arrived Tuesday at 3:30pm.
It was also in my Spam, and thanks to Dizneydaz I would have never even checked!

Wait...we get a button!?!?!

oh, and side note, i noticed the email to confirm yours was fullfilment4.....mine was fulfillment 3. maybe that's the group we will be in? so like 4th group of the day etc?
