Please take a minute to check your DVC account info online.

I just noticed yesterday that an unauthorized Associate was added to our account.

I contacted MS and a Manager told me that names just don't get added to accounts, and that maybe my DW or DD added the person. I explained that DW and DD's knowledge of the DVC is that we are members, that's it.

The Manager told me that there was nothing that MS could do and that I should contact Member Administration this morning.

Turns out that the person added to our account is one of the software programmers working for Disney. Apparently they are doing some testing and forgot to clean our account up when they were done.

I suggested that they use test accounts and not live member accounts in the future. :sad2:

You may want to review your account info just to make sure that everythings the way that it should be.

Thanks for the heads-up. I just checked my account & all is well. I agree with you, they shouldn't use member accounts for their tests.

I once had an unauthorized transfer of 150 points from my account! I called to make a reservation and was told I had no points. The MS rep gave me the same answer as given to the OP, "well someone in your family must have made the transfer...it doesn't just happen." After hours of wrangling a rude MS manager admitted it was a "computer error" and returned the points. Be careful with MS.

YIKES!!! We all know what a mess those Disney IT folks can make when trying to "improve" things. I hope they didn't mess up your account too badly! I must say, that makes me VERY nervous!:scared1:

Well I can't get into the website today. I don't know what the issue is - like a user name/password issue - but I haven't changed anything. I even tried 2 different browsers. Then I used the link for "forgot your password" and after hitting enter - the screen went all funky - couldn't tell if it went through or not, and I have not received any e-mail with my password in it and it's been a few hours. I get so sick of Disney IT issues.

 , i never thought about "points" , like monies in a
bank & then embezzlement . who will miss a few points
here & there, but once you add them all up?

do these things pop up all the time?

what kinds of secondary markets are there?
[ that we don't know about ]

[ since becoming members, & reading here, we have experienced
some very un-disney exchangers. especially in processing &
keeping their word. ]

i think members should have access of the organization structure
that are directly in "control" of their points. and the safeguards
monitoring the "shop". why can't we get direct answers for simple
questions?

wondering what other perks are they making up? :scared:,

That sums my general feelings about Disney IT issues. I see no vast conspiracy here and do not feel the need for any tin-foil headwear either.

Thanks for the heads up and other info posted. I just checked my account and found no "errors" and the site seems to be working...

This is very scary and quite honestly... it makes me angry. This is people's money... and not just a small amount either. I find it funny that they give you the 3rd degree when you call.... verifying everything except where your child was conceived but then some IT person can put their name on your account. There is no excuse for this... I'm sorry. Thanks for the heads up; it's great that we have a place where we can share inportant information like this. Thanks, April

We tried to add names to an existing reservation and were told the system was down until this afternoon so something is going on.

Just wanted to add my thanks to the OP for posting this so that the rest of us can be on the lookout for these "errors"! Going to check my account now!

Oh gracious. That must have been frightening!

And yeah, they should use test accounts. Like other big GOOD firms do, when updating their sites. At least one company I know has a whole second site that is a few days ahead, and they do all their stuff *there*, and then it's rolled out as a whole when it's done. Customers never see the glitches b/c of the way they do it. It's brilliant.

But that's certainly not the Disney way, which is why we can see EVERY single change they make, because it messes us up completely.

The same other company has test accounts for everything. CS training, other training, etc etc etc. If it's not a totally made up account, it's at least in the name of the trainer, with company info on it...so if something gets messed up, it's not going to mess with normal customers, just employees who already know they have this bogus account...

No one said anything was being embezzled. They were just obviously doing something on the IT side and points were shifted then accidentally not shifted back.

And it is NOT a simple answer. MS is a customer service group. They aren't told everything, or really ANYthing, that IT is doing. And why would they? So usually a customer will notice something, they will call in. That's generally the first indication that anything is wrong. Depending on the particular CS rep they'll either think the customer has gone bananas, or they'll "code" the contact (if Disney does that) so that the info is being seen by someone else. Then more CS reps will get those calls. And finally it will be seen. Eventually, the managers will get word down from the higher/different departments, the ones causing the problems (IT, shipping, fulfilment, etc etc), and official word will get to those taking phone calls, along with a legally-vetted way of explaining it. That's how it's worked with the companies I have worked for and that DH has worked for (tons of internet-based companies in various forms).

I don't expect this is any different. These questions aren't simple, and the answers aren't easily gotten. You're expecting the impossible from a company like Disney, or any other company where the owner is not answering the phone, the IT people aren't in the same room, and the person that takes your order isn't actually packing it and handing it to the UPS guy (or in this case, moving the points around, making reservations, writing out your letter, and mailing it that day).

Love it. :goodvibes

I sent a email to the Member Satisfaction Team advising them of our issue. The CM called back and told me that they were aware of the situation and that they were sorry, goodbye. :scared1:

This afternoon a Manager at MS called to say that she contacted Member Administration and had the programmers name removed from our account. She also sent a email to the IT people involved. She also apologized.

:rotfl: -- how appropriate (and hysterical) -- thanks for the laugh this morning, Vicki!

Thanks also for the head's up, Bill. I logged in this morning too just to be sure nothing was wonkey with our account. :thumbsup2

Thank you very much. I just checked my account and thankfully all is good.
Have just enough points to hopefully request the THV this August for my pre cruise trip next July (SSR is our home resort).
Thanks so much.

beware of software programmers... they rule the world these days....

Thanks for the heads up! I just checked and my account is fine.:thumbsup2

Also double check the amount of points being used for a reservation. Maybe IT screwed up something with that as well. I made a 3 night reservation over the weekend of the Wine & Dine half marathon and booked at OKW, should have been 43 points. I was being told over and over that it was 52 (which would have been SSR) and MS kept insisting that is what the computer said it was.

I explained that the amount was awfully high for OKW and that is about the same number of points as SSR and she said yes I was right and that OKW and SSR are the same number of points :confused3

I said that can't be true because OKW points are a lower and so after telling her (again) to double check she finally came back and said I was right and that it was only 43 points and that their computers had been on the fritz all day.

So double check the points!

Where do I find Associate and info like that on my member acount?
I am on now and cannot find that info.
I can see points, vacations past, etc. Annual dues paid, etc.
What and where is the link I need?
I own alone, does that make a difference----why there is not a link to find?
