Just thought I'd post what I found on my Discover Statement for this month-- they upped the Due Date by 5 days!! Not a big deal but of course they never tell you or give you a heads up that this is going to happen. I watch my statements online several times a week (yes I'm a little OCD about it!!) and this particular card is usually due within the first couple days of the month, (1-4th) and now it's due the last week of the month! Just wanted to warn everyone, late payment charges are not what anyone needs right now because they want to slyly change the date due.

And I don't need to know that yes they can change this at any time, I know that, just wanted to pass the info along since I noticed it.

Thanks for the reminder....I noticed my Kohls card did that this month too. It's usually due the 7th and this month it changed to the 1st.

I just checked ours and it had moved up 4 days, there is a place where you can pick the date you want, so I put ours back...says it stays that way for 90 days after it has been changed.

I hate CC company's. That's why we don't have any! We are debt free except for our mortgage and vehicles! It's a great feeling :goodvibes

Good for you! That really is awesome.... We're working on getting there, it's a slow process with my husband's job being so up and down for the last several years.... 4 years or so. One day we will be able to say that, cause I hate CC companies also!! We have just a few with very low balances so I can see the light!

Hey southcarolinagirl,

Thanks for the info. I too noticed that mine had been moved which annoyed me because DH's is the last week of the month and mine was the first week so I could pay one with each paycheck. Once you changed it back could you see online that it was back to the old date?

We're debt free except for our mortgage, but I love my credit cards. Though I do admit their games these days are a little annoying. Where else do I get things for free by just doing my regular shopping. Thanks to my Costco American Express card I just paid $7.49 for my new laptop from Costco. I also have $200 worth of restaraunt gift cards from Discover ready for our vacation.

I have a Discover, and there was a notice that came with my paper bill maybe 2 statements ago stating that due dates were going to be moved up shortly. They didn't say how many days or anything, but I was notified. I do wonder how many people missed that notification, though.

My date changed also. It was just due on May 1 and now the next payment is due on May 31.

Wow thanks for posting- mine changed as well! Up 4 days. And I pay online same day every month so I would have been late!
Thank you for posting!
I better check my other cards. What a sneaky thing to do. I'm surprised to see them do that? I bet they end up waiving late fees that first month.

I bet alot missed it, I get online statements so I definitely missed it! My Penneys card did this a few months ago, they did waive the late fee but I pay MUCH closer attention since that happened.

I got an email confirming the date change, they said it would go into effect in July and then you cant change it again for 90 days. i thought that it was pretty neat that you can pick your date.

Mine stayed the same. I wonder why they are changing some and not others.
I have had them change the "remit to" address before with no notification. That's a pain when you use on-line bill pay instead of mailing in the payment coupon.

I pay all my CC bills the day I get the statement, but I know not everyone is able to do that. I know that they are allowed to change it whenever they want, but does anyone ever notice how they always change it to an EARLIER date, and not a LATER date?

Anyway, this is a good reminder to everyone to ALWAYS read your statements. Not just the due dates at the top, but all the way to the bottom. That's where most of my cards list their notices and promotions.

I have Discover as well. I like that you can sign up for e-mail alerts that your bill is approaching its due date and you haven't paid yet (there's other things too, like if you're close to your limit, etc. but I've never used them). Maybe something to look into?
