We are getting notices on credit cards that we have not used in over 12 months that they are being cancelled! Guess the banks are thinning the ranks! Just got a call from Shrek, I need to use two cards today!

My response....NOT A PROBLEM! :cool1:

So, where are you taking us all out to dinner? :hyper:

I know of a suitcase you could adopt.....

I don't mind 'em closin' out some of mine, my gawd, I had accumulated so
many coz I use those ones that offer ya 0% for a certain length of time.
Now I mainly use my Disney Rewards VISA.

I heard the banks are raisin' the min % amount due for those folks who aren't able to pay the full amount.

Hmm. I have one that we haven't charged on in awhile, but it has a balance on it. We transferred some higher interest stuff to it, then stopped using it for purchases. I guess if they close it they close it! :rotfl2:

That's the only bank card I have just sitting around. I have a couple of cards like Kohl's and Dillard's that haven't been used in a long time but no loss if they close them. :confused3 Actually, I have had the Dillard's card forever so maybe I should go buy something and pay it off just to keep it current. It is probably the card with the longest history on my credit report!

The only problem there is that it lowers your credit score. One of the criteria lenders use is credit to debt ratio..so if you have an unused account with $10,000 credit limit and another with a $10,000 limit with $3,000 used your ratio is 3000/20000. Close the unused account and now it's 3000/10000...that doesn't look as good now.

Which is why Mike has to take us out to dinner! To keep that card active!

Where shall we go?

Sorry! Too late!

Card #1 went to fill up the tank.

Card #2 was at Publix!

Shrek is peeved! They cancelled his Disney rewards visa! :scared1:

Hopefully I will be using my Disney Visa in a minute. To pay the exorbitant change fee on our plane tickets so we can extend our WDW trip! I can't believe the fee is $150 per ticket! :scared1:

The bad thing about closing credit cards as mentioned above, is that if the available balance is substantial enough, closing it can drop your score 30-50 points easily. Not using a card for long periods of time, doesn't show any credit history as well, so that can drop your score also. It's a fine balance of keeping your balances only 35% of the available and charging something on it from time to time. I've been working on my credit for the past 2 years and learned so much.

Now......what are you going to buy me with all these cards you much charge on? Hmmm?

Hey!

Stand in line, new guy!

If he's not taking me out to dinner, he's not buying you anything!

(well, unless he finds a purse that matches your boots . . . )

Both of you move over! Everyone knows I'm the cheap date around here!*

*Wherever that is.

Yeah, but you're locked in a suitcase, on a boat, at sea.

Pity you can't be here to take advantage of this golden opportunity.

NOT!
