I just got a DING for my travel dates on May 4 and 13th (one way seperately) from BWI to MCO. It was $36.28 to Orlando and $31.63 going home. I had Southwest on the other end cancelled my other reservation (at $69.00 one way) and immediately I booked mine so I would not loose the seats. They told me that as long as I prove I traveled I can get a refund to my CC. That is $416.50 back. With taxes and all it came out to be 93.50 per person total round trip. I thought that was pretty good!!! :)

Pretty good? That's an awesome fare.I didn't have ding downloaded and now I do! I see people writing in about their great fares to Orlando on Ding and I'll just have to wait and see if I get dinged...Certainly hope it's for the great fares everyone else is getting.Congrats!!

But, but, but, you didn't have a preassigned seat.

Great deal !
I have heard of several folk now taking "the safe method" of cancelling and re-booking to take adavantage of the Ding by calling it in instead of online (where you could potentially loose your original booking and find the Ding unavailable or sold out during the booking process).
So ,are you saying that as long as you can prove that you used the re-booked Ding fare, they will refund to your CC ?(as opposed to a simple credit)

All of the Dings! I've been getting expire Feb 28th??

Who has been getting later Dings!!

It looks like yesterday and this morning some people have received targeted DINGs with dates through June 9th. My home airport hasn't been included but I'm sitting here with my fingers crossed. My DING this morning didn't include my home airport to anywhere.

On Tuesday in addition to the normal Ding!s that are only good on flights to Jan 31 (and some Feb 28). I got a DING with only 4 city pairs, Orlando to Chicago and Indy for flights from March 1st to June 9th. From mid March and all of April there were no (non stop) flights at the Ding! fare of $115 rt to Chicago open, but from May 1st to June 9th it was wide open. Rebooked several $195 rts to $115.

Today, it was Hartford,Manchester and Providence. with the 3/1-6/9 window. I can't tell you what the rates were, because it's expired already (very small 2hr window that you could book in 9am-11am CST)

I have my Ding! set up with Orlando as the home airport, since that's the city I'm most interested in. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Oh, man! I've been waiting for that DING and somehow completely missed it! All the other fares I've been finding from BWI to MCO have been in the $200 range.

I too would be interest to hear how you did it. I changed my flights at $59 one way total of $135.60 RT from Providence to the ding of $49 each way for a new total of $115.60 RT. I pulled up the ding, saw it was available, called SW, the SW agent canceled my old flights and gave me an electronic funds credit to use within 1 year, I pulled up those electronic funds and used that at payment for my new cheaper tickets. So I still have $60 to use for a future trip. I didn't worry about too much about canceling the old flights as those $59 rates were still available. I would love to hear how they say you can get your full amount credited.

I just want to thank everyone here again. I downloaded ding but didn't figure out how it worked till I started reading more here. This mornining's ding was the first one I saw past 2/28/06.

I first called Southwest and they said they don't even see the DINGS and I would have to take care of it online. They also said that I would have to cancel first, use the funds I originally paid to purchase the new airfair. I asked if I could book first, then cancel and they said no. I hung up and then thought, WOW risky with the timing especially since I have 5 tickets and the flight may be full. So I called back talked to someone and said, can you cancel for me, give me the go ahead and then I will immediately book it again. She said yes the money will be in your credit account to immediately rebook. Anything left over I could use as a credit for a future flight within a year or get a refund on my CC but we have to complete the travel first. But, my going home flight was no longer there so I changed to another flight leaving 45 minutes earlier. I did it fast, no problems but it was kindof nerve racking. Southwest said all DINGs have to be done on our computers only

I called today as well. I orginally booked a departure and then realized I had the wrong date. I needed one day before.

So about an hour later after discussing all the options I called SW back and explained what happened. She was unable to change the flight but she was so nice because she waited on the phone while I rebooked with the new dates, and once I confirmed to her that I had it, she cancelled my old dates. She said I should see a credit on my card.

I was so thankful. This is the second time I have called SW and both times they were so nice.

Oh I am so upset with myself! I missed both of the DINGS I needed!

They were tonight and I was away from the computer and did not check it to just now and they are expired!

I wonder if they will come up again! :confused3
