fashion accessory!

Isn't it just beautiful? So lucky me spent my Saturday night in the ER waiting for hours in pain. That was until they gave me a nice dose of pain medication, then I was happy. At least I got out of shoveling. :teeth: So, how did you spend your first night of the blizzard?

Wow. All that to get out of shoveling.... ;)

At least it is the right finger. :lmao:

Seriously - I hope it feels better now.

Hope you feel better soon!

:rotfl2: Yes I planned this all out. At least thats what my mom thinks.

Thank you for the good wishes. I have to see a hand surgen this week to have it set properly. I hope that goes well and I won't have to keep this on for too long.

Just curious, but is it broken and how did you do it? I know, I know, I'm nosy, and you don't owe me an explanation!! :teeth:

I was just wondering because a few years ago my daughter was shooting hoops at a relative's house and the basketball came down on her pinkie finger and we heard a loud cracking sound, ewwwwwwww. Turned out she had a chip fracture in the finger, but the ER doctor didn't see it and thought she had jsut sprained the finger, so he taped the pinkie finger to the finger beside it. The next day, we got a call to return to the ER. Upon further review of the x-rays, they saw the chip fracture. She had to have a splint put on the finger and they wrapped half her hand along with it. I think she had to keep the splint on for about four weeks.

It is kind of embarrasing but I'll explain. It was just starting to snow here. I smashed my finger in my back garage door as I was closing it. It is a heavy door. It hurt really bad. DBF took me inside and we ran it under cold water, wrapped it in a bandaid and put it on ice. I've slammed fingers in doors before and ice always worked. Then we drove out to his house about 45 minutes away. My finger wasn't getting any better. It was swollen, numb, and bleeding. So we went to the ER in the beginning of the blizzard. After about 3 hours they tell me "Congratulations, you broke it." I have a perfect break in the bone right under the nail. About 2 hours after that they finally splinted it and I drove off to find a 24 hour pharmacy in the blizzard. I have to see an orthopedic sometime this week to check on it. I have no idea how long I need it splinted but I am hoping for 2 weeks the most. It is difficult to do many things.

Now I have to make up a good story to tell anyone that asks me what happened. Slamming the door on my finger is not "cool" enough.
