Check in

We just got back from our OKW vacation the last week in January. The check in went well because for the first time since we have been members we checked in on Saturday and also it was 9 o'clock in the evening. Normally we stay at the Hilton and check in on Sunday morning but I had a change of heart and decided to spend 40 points to stay Saturday night. It made for a very positive frame of mind for me because check in is normally a very negative thing for me at OKW. It might interest you that I believe they went back to their old ways because they already had my room assigned for Sunday when I arrived on Saturday without a reservation. They just gave me the same room which of course was the only way I was going for the extra 40 points but they had plenty of empty spots and they told me they would just change my room if it was not open for renting on Saturday night. They of course had plenty including mine, it was after all the end of January.

Hmm.. I am going to be in Orlando next week and keep thinking about staying over. I called MS and was told FULL, but I have seen rooms on Expedia and Travelocity at OKW (have not tried to book so who knows if they really exist!) I was toying with the idea of just driving in and asking the front desk to give it a try. IT sounds like that is what you did...... I know there are rooms available in the Orlando area so I figure I won't be homeless on the street if OKW can't get me in!

There is a big difference from the last week in January compared to the second week in Febraury, the slowest week compared to a very popular week. The following week, President's week is one of the most busy weeks down there all year. Good luck getting a room at OKW!

Well, I called and got Friday night. Could not get Saturday, but the MS agent said it would not hurt to ask. So.. I will ask. I realize it is a busy weekend, but I called CRO and there are rooms available all over Disney and all the other travel sights are showing rooms in Orlando so.... I won't be homeless. I would just book a Disney room, but if I get lucky then I will be too late to cancel it. So if on Friday when I check in they say no way (ie. no late cancellations etc.) then I will just call CRO and book a room someplace else.
