Check-in tips

My family is camping June 20-25 and will are caravanning there in three airstreams. We have requested sites next to each other. I don't want any drama on check in day so any tips would be helpful.

*Should I fax in a separate request to be placed next to each other?

*How early for check in would you arrive?

*Has any one arrived the day before so you're well rested for your first day if so where would be a good place to spend the night (with three campers mind you) and grab breakfast in the area.

A fax probably wouldn't hurt in this case, but I would probably suggest getting all three reservation numbers and having them "linked" in the reservation system and make sure the notes show the request for sites together.

On several occasions I have given special requests to be placed in the notes, but when I called back and talked to another CM there were no notes?? I now always call back a couple of days later and ask that the notes be read back to me.

If all three have the other two's numbers and add them to their ressie, you can get the "link" which is better than just having a note on the ressie or doing the fax thing.

My dad has always admired the Airstreams so I hope you do this and it works out for you.

I would make sure that your reservations are linked together with WDW reservations. Since you are requesting three sites to be co-located, I would also suggest calling the Fort and request to speak to the site assigner. I would call about two or three days prior to arrival.

. . . the later you arrive, they can be already given out

Since when does FW not accept site or loop request? I just sent mine in, Jim sent his in last week for loop 100 and got it!

I am not sure about requesting a site since we haven't been there in 20 years

I have heard you can park in over flow parking until check-in time anyone done this?

Since when does FW not accept site or loop request? I just sent mine in, Jim sent his in last week for loop 100 and got it!

<----What Marty said. I did fax in a request 9 days before arrival asking for Loop 100 and here I am in site 103.

It could have been coinsidence. Or it could be that I reserved a Preferred site without a pet. That gave me a 50/50 chance of getting 100.

Either way, I did get a confirmation from my fax machine that said the fax was "sent", so the number is still active and hooked to a fax machine. What they do with it after it arrives is the question, I guess.

1) WL/FW stopped reading faxes a couple of years ago.
2) WW/FW normally just trash them when received.
3) It takes too much time to try to match requests.
4) Think of ROOMS assigning as a giant Rubik's Cube.
5) That is why most assigning it is now done by computers. (the new system)

Do all you can and keep your fingers crossed. The time frame is a busy time and having 3 adjacent sites at the same time available, might be a real stretch so be flexible and hope for the best and plan on the worst.

My last trip was a last minute change from a value resort and I realized I had not given my TA any info on my site preferences so I faxed a request in. Either they read it or I am really lucky because I got exactly what I needed.

I have never requested a specific site but I try to explain why I am making a request. That way, if they can't meet a specific request, they can try to put you in a site that best meets your needs.

Well I have a hard time believing that they throw the fax requests in the trash. Several have posted that their requests were honored and how can that be when supposedly it was tossed. I go to the Fort at least 3 times a year and my requests are usually met.

I would recommend that everyone continue to fax in their requests because it does help you get the area that you wish.

We ALWAYS fax in our request, as well as put in on our reservation. We ALWAYS get exactly or pretty darn close to what we request, even if we have family members in cabins or other campers

I usually just put my site requests on my reservation and I almost always get them. This time because we were celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary I faxed my request in as well and even though it was a holiday weekend we were gonna get one of the sites we requested. It just wasn't ready yet when we went to check in at 12, so we asked for best available and ended up with an even better site than what I had requested.

So, I'd say they are reading them and definitly keep faxing.
