Check-in Question...

When we check in, will we be required to give a credit card? I would rather just pay on check out as we have a group of 12 people! I know I will be stuck checking us all in (we are registered as one group) and I don't want to be stuck footing the bill for 12 people for the week (even if they are all family!).

This has me worried...

We are staying at POP...any input to ease my mind?

You need to pay for your room reservation at check-in (not check-out). They will ask you if you want to "leave a credit card on file" so that you can pay for purchases with your room key. They will then charge the card for whatever you buy.

unfortunately, they do require the room balance to be paid at check in...

however, i know exactly how you feel, as i have gone many times with other family members. they can divide the total amount amongst how ever many people you have that are paying. for instance when i went we had 2 rooms, but were being divided up in to 3, for our 3 different parties.


what the other user meant about leaving a card on file was that they'll ask you if you would like to have your room cards to be chargeable to your room. they will have specific names and numbers on them. so, you can purchase things with the cards and have it charged to your room. we always do this. there is no extra charge to do this. it is just more secure. if you lose your room card, or it gets stolen, they can cancel that number, and then issue a new one to you. this way, there is no needing to worry about calling your credit card company, and waiting for another card to be mailed.

apon departure, you can tell the cm's at the front desk that you would like all charges for card X to be charged to one credit card, and then card Y to be charged to another. but make sure that you tell them that you do not want express check out. otherwise, all charges made to the room will be charged to that one card on file, and you will have to go in and change it anyway.

Actually, I'm pretty sure you're REQUIRED to leave a credit card (or some cash) for incidentals. (If phone calls are made, etc....)

The charging to the room is optional, but I think in addition to paying your balance, they need a credit card on file.

We were "asked" if we wanted to ~ Hubby and I did, my Parents did not. Not really sure how that works with phone calls as we never use the room phone

I have stayed in a WDW resort many times and have always been asked if I want to leave a CC on file but never required and most times I haven't left one. You don't ever have to pay with a CC and never have to have one on file. You also are not required to leave cash.

I'm assuming that you will have three rooms, if not more. Depending on how it was booked, the 3 rooms may be on one reservation, or they may be separated. If they're not already separated, you can request the CM to separate them. By doing this, you can place a different credit card on each room.

If you wish to have charging privledges, to charge incidentals such as merchandise, snacks, meals, etc back to your room, then yes, you would need a credit card on file.

You are not required to place it on file, but then you would not have the charging privledges.

Thanks everyone! We are paying for the trip in full BEFORE arriving at Disney, so we wil not be paying a reservation balance. I actually meant the question about having to leave a card on file for incidentals. Since our reservation is going to be paid in full (yes, 3 rooms Tyler!), I do NOT want to leave a cc on file for incidentals (we have the MYW Dining package and do not anticipate very many incidentals).

Would we be required to leave a "deposit" for incidentals or can we just pay for any incidentals (we have cell phones and would not even need the room phone!) upon check out. I normally would not have a problem, however, we do not use credit cards anymore and are on a budget for this trip. I just don't want to give our debit/credit/atm card and have a $500 plus block of money put on hold for incidentals. This happened to me once when I travelled to Puerto Rico with a friend (years ago!)...I just worry about it happening and leaving my family with no $$. When it is just myself, I don't really care. But when it is my dd3 and dh...I DO care! Well, that explains WHY I am nervous...

Tyler, I believe the TA placed all 3 rooms under one reservation so that we can get them all in one block (right next to one another). Should I have one person for each room check in separately? How should I handle this...any input?

Just so you know, when you place a credit card on file at Disney, we do not charge the card. You are given a resort credit limit ($500 for Pop). If you reach that limit, THAT is when the card is charged. Or, the day of check out (at 2am), that's when the Express Checkout kicks in and the card is charged.

When I go with friends, we never leave a credit card. Our room keys say "not valid for charging". We've stayed at CSR, POFQ, BWV, VWL.

Most of my questions on this topic have already been answered, but, just checking... I paid the balance off in full last November. I made a series of payments, all by personal check, with the last payment being mailed out 11/04.

Now, I'm a paranoid person, so I must ask: Will it be in the computer that I have already paid off the entire balance of my package (deluxe savannah room @ AKL, plu two unlimited park hopper passes, which is what they were still called when I booked), and they won't require a credit card at all, should I not desire to leave one?

See, my bank doesn't send me back my cancelled checks, and, like I said, I'm a paranoid sort, and this is the dream vacation of a lifetime for DW and me... and I just want everything to be COOL!

If you have paid in full, it will be in the computer system saying it is paid. You do not need to leave a credit card if you don't want. If you are really nervous about it, you can call the reservations number and make sure that they show that you have a zero balance. or you should also be able to check that online, if you have your confirmation number.
