We are heading to the BWV in a couple of weeks and as this will be our 1st trip staying on property, we have a few questions about check in. We're going to be spending Saturday night in Lake City, FL, which means that we'll probably get to BWV a little early on Sunday (probably around 10:30 AM). I'm assuming that our room won't be done yet. Would it be best for us to go ahead and check in, then head to the parks for awhile until our room gets ready? If so, do we just let the valet take our car and get it back for the luggage when we come back after our room is ready? I hate for the valets to have to run back and get our car later just to unload luggage. Or do we go ahead and get the luggage out of our car and they hold it for us until the room is ready? We also thought about checking in and then heading to the grocery store for a few staples (have a 16 month old so we definitely need food in the room). If we do that and our room is still not ready when we get back, will they hold groceries for us? Thanks and any advice/info would be greatly appreciated.

Definitely check-in when you arrive. You will probably have more flexibility in being able to choose the exact room you want.

Leave your luggage with the concierge.

You can purchase groceries and also leave them with the concierge. But if you have anything that needs to be refrigerated or frozen, make sure it is clearly marked and that you are very clear in your instructions. I've read numerous posts of people having to discard groceries that were mishandled--even though they thought they had given very clear instructions.

If you are planning to buy your groceries right at WDW, you could just download the order form from the DVC member web site and fax it to the resort. They will take care of the rest. Your purchases should be waiting in your room after check-in time.

When I am in the area, I check in early in the morning (7:00 or 7:30)....this guarantess you miss any lines at registration and gives you an opportunity to straighten out any questions you may have. Every once in a while they even have the room ready!

We are not going to be down there until the afternoon we check in (2/4), but will get over there as quickly as possible :)

Have a Great trip!

When we stay at BWV, we pull up to the entrance and the valet comes over and takes the luggage out of the car. He puts it on a luggage cart, which he later rolls into bell storage. He asks if you want to valet park the car, we saw yes, he gives us claim checks for both the car and the luggage, we tip him and go in to check-in. When we get to our room, we call bell services and ask them to deliver the luggage. When the bellman comes up with the luggage, we tip him also. When you are ready to get your car out of valet, call down from your room and ask for it to be pulled around, you will need the numbers off your claim check. By time you get down to the valet area, it should be pulled up or a short wait. Another tip. When you are checking out, if you don't want to handle your luggage yourself, call bell services and they will come up and get it, then put it into storage for later or take it to your car if you are leaving immediately (ask for the car to be pulled up as the same time as the luggage).

Never leave anything of value in a car that is to be valet parked-that means you must check your luggage in which only makes sense anyway-A big rule for valet parking is never leave anything of value in the car.

Another good point is that once you get your room keys and leave a CC number you'll have those charge privileges. This can really be a lifesaver if hubby is elsewhere in the park with the money and you need to get a snack for the baby.

We've had really good service with Bell Services and they did a great job putting my groceries in the fridge until the room was ready. Keep in mind you're obviously going to see posts about the few times there are mess-ups, but few of us post about things that went right since we expect great service from Disney (and I haven't been disappointed)! :p
