I have read quite a bit about first come/first serve check-in at OKW. I am wondering if BWV has had such a policy.

We are headed down tomorrow for the marathon and some golf. I want to know whether I should check-in as soon as I arrive so I can have a room choice, or whether I will be pre-assigned anyway so that it doesn't matter.

I'm not too picky about rooms, but I want to make sure that we have one of those great tubs for after the marathon! This is not the vacation for a handicap-accessible room for me!

Thanks for any information you may have!

As far as I know, BWV has never had such a policy (first come/first served).

We were last there 12/1/02 - 12/07/02. I'm quite sure that our room was preassigned, because the CM started off with an apology/explanation of why we didn't get all of our requests. Since the CM hadn't done anything except look up our name at this point, I assume our room was preassigned. Our room was ready even though it was only 9:30 a.m. and I was thrilled. It was the first time I had made any request other than N/S, but I really didn't expect anything beyond N/S. As it turned out, the area I had requested was under rehab, so I was very, very happy with the room we received.

Enjoy the marathon and good luck whether you are running or cheering on someone else!

When we checked in about 10:00am on December 7th last month, our room was already assigned but not ready (1 bedroom standard view). I called about 2:45 and it was not ready, I called again 3:15 and it was.

With the Boardwalk view being so coveted, I think it would be hard to not preassign those by date of reservation to be fair.

Most likely your room will be assigned, but there is no reason you can't ask for a different one. I would check in early, ask what area your room is located and if it is not what you wanted, ask if something else is available.

I checked in at BWV on Dec. 28, arriving about noon. My room was ready, which was a pleasant surprise. I'd been pre-assigned something on the 1st floor, even though I'd requested an upper floor right at the 11-month window. So I nicely asked if there was a standard studio available on a higher floor, and the CM found one that was ready on the 4th floor. I guess in a way that was first come first served, since a later arrival on my part might have meant I would have had to keep that 1st floor room. (That would have been okay really. Ultimately anything non-smoking works for me.)

I was a little mystified why I wasn't pre-assigned that 4th floor room in the first place since I made my request right after 9 AM on the exact 11-month window date??? I'm still fuzzy on how all of that works, but it turned out great anyway. :D

The same thing happened to me! I requested "fireworks view" because we had a standard room on the 3rd floor in 2001 and had a view of Illuminations. When I checked in, I asked if our pre-assigned room was on a high floor to see the fireworks, she said no it's on the first floor! I made the reservation day by day at 11 months. She was able to find a 4th floor room but she said she thought it didn't have a great view. Neither room was ready. I said I'd take the 4th floor. It was ready in the afternoon, I was pleasantly surprised when we got there, it was perfect! Right across from the bus stop with a great view of Illuminations over the convention center. I wondered too why they didn't assign us that one in the first place. I'm in the process of making my December 2003 reservations now (day by day) and I specifically requested 4th floor, across from the bus stop. I'm going to followup with a fax 4 days before this time.
