Check In - LA?

Can one person check in your entire party while one person returns the rental car in LA? If so, what do you need to bring for checkin (docs? passport?)?
What does the person returning the car need in order to get in the terminal building? I'm sure others have done this. What is your experience?

Haven't done it in LA.

In FL, the person returning the car needs a photo ID to get back into the port area. The person doing the checking in needs all the documents. If the car person isn't back by the time the check in gets to the front of the line, the CM will check in the whole party but will hold the KTTW for the car person till he gets back and presents his ID. They won't make him stand in the line again...just wait till the person ahead is done, step up, and get it.

LA could be different.....
