I'm wondering, if besides all the wonderful things we get just for winning this drawing, if they will do anything else for us, like upgrade us to concierge rooms or suites, or even just give us preferred seating at the CA shows.

I think the Disneyland Hotel looks amazing. If we had chosen DL that hotel would have been my pick. You have to post pics when you get back! You are going to have such an awesome time.

When we first found out we'd won the contest we watched the planning video and the boys got all excited about the pools, but after doing research I decided I wanted to stay at the GCH because it's a once in a lifetime chance. I loved the entrance to CA and how close the hotel is to the parks. I'm over it now because the DLH is awesome too and I think the boys will like it even more. It doesn't seem to be that much further walk either.

We'll have to buy a new camera for this trip. Our old one just won't do the trip justice! :thumbsup2

Yes, I thought the entrance to park park part was cool but the pool and the headboard had me sold. :goodvibes I wonder if I could have a copy of that headboard made for my house. :rolleyes1 Yeah, we have been shopping for new cameras too. This trip means its time for an upgrade.

Did you all mostly get direct flights to/from Disney or did they book you flights with stops or layovers? It all sounds like lots of fun. :)

Does anyone know when the regular rooms for the Art of Animation resort at WDW are opening? My husband mentioned that we should have tried it out instead of Pop. Looks like they are only accepting ressies for the family suites right now. They look awesome but I don't want to fork out $200-350 for a value resort.

I was actually trying to find that out myself, but I haven't come across any new information. It will be open by the time we all go with our OMDD trips, so it could be an option, but I haven't heard anything either. And on a side note, the fact that you got the Grand Floridian as your choice gives me hope for mine :) Was that your first pick?

Yes, it was my first pick. :woohoo: I bet you will get your 1st pick too. I think it might be a little easier to get your pick at WDW since they have larger inventory of rooms. I think I might call Monday about the Art of Animation, I would love to check it out. If we can't we can always just walk across the bridge and check it out. I wonder if we can pool hop? When we stayed at Pop last March we watched the construction. Its so nice that they finally did something with those empty buildings. They were kind of an eye sore.

I mentioned we want to stay there for our honeymoon, so we'll see. Yeah, WDW seems a bit easier to place people with the amount of rooms they have. Let us know what you find out about the hotel, if nothing else I plan on going by there when we're down there to see what it's like. I agree, I saw those buildings the last time we were there and wished they weren't lol.

I just checked the website and it says that standard rooms won't be open until December 2012 :sad1: Are you thinking of booking a family suite?

I got a non stop flight from Orlando to LAX and non stop on the return on Virgin American Airlines.

I was wondering the same thing, even though the rules specifically state that "no upgrades are offered." We will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary right around trip time so I threw that into my planning sheet to see if they would do anything for us. Can't wait to find out!

Exactly what I was thinking! LOL! :rotfl:

He's actually going to Egypt for a year and I REALLY want to see the pyramids so I'm hoping I can go there for his R&R and my mom can come and watch the boys. Hopefully the country will be a lot safer than it is now. Otherwise, my backup plan is to go on a cruise to Italy, Croatia, Greece, and Turkey. Ooh, maybe we could go to Disneyland Paris too! Apparently I want to go everywhere. Maybe I'll get through this trip first. :thumbsup2

A friend of mine went to Egypt 2 years ago and she absolutely loved it! She said that she would go back in an instant if she ever got the opportunity again!

Hehe I mentioned that it will be our honeymoon, so we'll see if anything else happens either :) It's worth a shot!

I got my new camera last year and I love it! Of course, I do photography on the side so I had a reason to get a new camera, but it will definitely be nice to have on this trip!

Hopefully they will do something; good luck and congrats. Where are you staying?

That's cool. What kind of camera do you have? I don't want to spend a fortune but I would like to get a good one that would take better pics at night for the parades etc. Any particular one that you would recommend?

I was wondering the same thing. I wonder if they put on our reservation that we're winners and to upgrade us if they can or something. I guess I might be the DL guinea pig since I think we're going first. I'm not expecting anything extra but I can secretly hope, right. ;)

I have a Canon Digital SLR; they are a little bigger than a regular digital camera, but the pictures that it takes are phenomenal! I paid $600 for it but it was worth every penny because the pictures come out so amazing! If you want to go smaller and chepaer, I can also recommend the Canon A330; I paid $120 for mine. It's a small digital point and shoot but it's 16MP so it takes good, clear pictures as well. And it has a video setting which is great because now I won't have to carry my video camera on the trip.
