Hi! Staying at Coronado for the first time and wondering which (non-preferred, non-tower) building we should request based on these priorities in order from top priority to lower priority, keeping in mind that we are there for a mother daughter trip (my birthday and mom's 70th birthday):

1. Proximity to Bus stop that will not be crowded
2. Proximity to Dig Site pool
3. Proximity to tower/El Centro

We'll have four days in the parks (maybe come back for a break or two) and one pure resort/pool day. I like the look of the Ranchos building, but I know they are farther out. Thanks in advance for your help!

To me your requests don't go together. To be close to a not crowded bus you need to be in Casitas. Building 4 is the best non preferred building for that. But it won't get you close to the tower or the main pool. Cabanas is better for tower access but will put you as the last stop for most bus routes. Ranchos is beautiful and peaceful, but won't get you anything on your wish list.

I think you need to look at a map and decide which of your 3 is top priority. You can't get them all.

I agree with most of Maxiesmom, except Ranchos will get you close to the Dig Site and now since they added a bridge across the pond the walk to the front is much better.
The bus route is normally like this:
Departure order (to parks)
  • Stop 1: Gran Destino Tower
  • Stop 2: Casitas
  • Stop 3: Ranchos
  • Stop 4: Cabanas
Return order (from parks)
  • The return route is the reverse, starting at Cabanas (or the outer areas) and ending at Gran Destino Tower.

Just a slight bus stop order adjustment: 1st Pickup/ drop off is Bus Stop 2 - Casitas
2nd Pickup/ drop off is Bus Stop 3 - Ranchos
3rd Pickup/ drop off is Bus Stop 4 - Cabanas
4th Pickup/ drop off is Bus Stop 1 - Tower
The exception has been the Disney Springs bus that goes in order Bus Stop 1, 2. 3 and 4.
Your best bet for a particular building is Ranchos 6 or 7, which will put you near the pool, between Bus Stops 2 and 3 (so, 1st or 2nd stops) and near the bridge that will lead to the main building. (Less than 5 min walk). Coronado is our favorite resort and we'll be there again in February. I hope you have a marvelous experience and a great trip.

I've been in Ranchos twice and the buses are still fairly empty when they reach us and we have been pretty close to the pool. The walk to the tower isn't far with the bridge in the middle. It's also a very pretty walk, especially in the morning before everyone is moving.
I am going again next month and requested Casitas. I just want to try out a different area but I'm happy with whatever we get.

When preferred was not available we requested Casitas 4 or 5 and received 4. We've stayed in 4 twice.

It's close to the first bus stop going to the parks, and there WERE mornings where the bus was standing room only when we reached cabanas and totally skipped the Tower because the bus was full.

Casitas 4 & 5 also affords you the ability to walk to El Centro totally under cover with a short walk so you are protected from the rain.

We also like being close to the quiet pool for afternoon swims.

It's also happened to us when we stayed in Ranchos....the tower gets completely skipped over. Or once we get to the tower everyone can't get on, including ECVs.

This list IS a list of priorities in order, not a wish list of one location that includes all of these in one.

Thank you, that is helpful!

Thank you! Your insight into the reality of the buses is very helpful!

Thanks so much!

Question- does it allow you to make any room requests on your online check in? I have a standard village booked and there’s no request area for me which I thought was weird.

I have only made a room request one other time (AKL) and it was five years ago. I think I did it online without "talking" to someone, but now I think you have to call or chat with someone on the website/in the app. We're using a travel agent for the first time ever, so I'm going to ask them what they recommend, as well, and see if they can make the request. We've stayed "off property" (Bonnet Creek) or rented DVC points most of the time. I haven't paid a straight up Disney hotel rate in about 13 years! I hope you have a great trip! Which area are you interested in staying in?

Whenever we reserve direct thru Disney we do it with a phone call. This is when we will make our request(s).

We will also call again about 2 - 3 weeks prior to double check that the request we made is still visible on our reservation.

We always do online check in. We always try to arrive at Disney with an early flight and we go directly to the hotel front desk. If we have received a text that our room is ready we will often go check the location first, WITHOUT ENTERING THE ROOM. They hate it when you enter the room and then say you'd like to change. I'm guessing people go in, all use the bathroom, maybe relax for a few minutes, all requiring the room to be checked/cleaned again.

Usually by getting there early in the day, if the room is not ready, the front desk can tell you the general location/view/etc. If your specific request is not ready yet they usually offer another choice that may be ready now, or, you can wait to have your requests met.

Now we rent DVC points over half our visits but we always choose the view/room type we want so there will be no surprises or we aren't just waiting to rely on the kindness of the desk to get what we want. If there is a request to be made we do it upon reserving and then no follow up after.

Yes but online check-in only has very generic "requests". In your example there is no near Elevator or really an Upper floor to request.

If you have a any requests then you will need to call the reservation number and have a CM add your requests (up to 3) to your reservation number. The limited alternative is to use the Chat feature in your MDE application. Do you know where this function is located? The CM on the chat will need to confirm your reservation number in order to update your reservation.

You need to have your requests added to your reservation at least 10 days before your arrival date to allow time for the room assignments to be reviewed as your room is assigned. You are also able to stop by the Front desk when you arrive to confirm that your requests were met or if there might be a room that does meet your requests before you go to your assigned room number.
