Check in/Check out times?

What are the check in/check out times? 4pm check in and 10am check out?
Check-out is 11:00 a.m., check-in is 3:00 p.m. For the DVC resorts, check-in is 4:00 p.m.

Keep in mind that you can go to the front desk and check-in any time after 6:00 a.m. If your room is ready, you will get it ... they don't artificially make you wait until the check-in time. Even if your room isn't ready, if you are also getting park tickets at the resort, they will give you your park passes and you can go out and play immediately.

As far as check-out, your room key's ability to unlock your resort room door is automatically deactivated at 11:00 a.m. sharp. If you mention at check-in that you will opt for express check-out, you don't need to go to ther front desk to check-out at all, you just make sure the room is vacated by 11:00 a.m. You can keep your room key as a souvenir (and in most cases, you'll need it anyway, since most people have their park tickets on the same card as their room key, and many also have a room charge account and/or Disney Dining Plan tied into that same card, also.

Actually your 100% wrong about that. My family and I tested your theory when checking out of the Contemporary last December and our KTTW cards still worked to open the door to our room after 11:00 AM and they also worked in the elevator to get up to the 12th floor. In fact we have tried this everytime on our checkout day and they cards always worked after 11:00 AM.

I bow to your family's wisdom and experience. And not that it matters ... it's not a "theory" that I devised in a lab somewhere, it's what's been explained to me by CMs.

Disney World gets even more delicious when you go with peers and pay for it yourself.

If you have your room key set up for "charging", do you need to visit the front desk upon check out if you have express check out, or are the charges automatically applied to your credit card?

The balance of your room charge is automatically applied to your credit card (or debit card) at check-out time or when you reach/exceed your room charge limit, whichever comes first. You don't need to go to the front desk to check-out. It will happen automatically at the 11:00 a.m. check-out time, or perhaps even earlier that morning. Of course, this is subject to CR's family's knowledge beyond my own.

To put it more concretely, I've never actually gone to the front desk and checked-out of a WDW resort, and I've always had a room charge set up.

I've always taken advantage of late checkout if it's available which is at 1:00 p.m. When staying at the Swan since I'm an SPG gold member then late checkout is 4:00 which is great!

I too have NEVER checked out at the front desk and have always used express checkout as I find it much easier.

When using express checkout your bill is put under your door first thing in the morning so anything you charge to your room after that bill has been given to you is charged directly to your credit card.

Is late check out an additional cost? Or, free? We could spend the morning of our last day at that place where they have the shops/Legoland (can't remember the name off the top of my head) and then check out after lunch.

Even though you would be checked-out by 11:00 AM if you did not reach your limit on your KTTW cards, you could still use them on your checkout day and WDW would bill you later on for your charges. We always here them say that in that good by message we get the night before when they thank us for staying with them.

There is no fee for late out check, just be sure to request it one day prior to your departure date and if it is available they will be more than happy to extend it to you. You mean Downtown Disney?
