Check in at hotel first?

We are going to Disney in just a few days!

We will be staying offsite for two nights and then starting our Disney vacation package. Do we have to check into the All Star Movies on Sunday before we head to the park? We want to be at MK for rope drop on Sunday, but I thought I read that we would have to activate our package/Magic bands at the hotel before going to the park.

Any tips on the best way to do this would be appreciated!

Thanks!

You can ACTIVATE your Package tickets up to 3 days BEFORE you check in.

Take your package info to any guest relations outside any Disney theme park, or at TTC, or at DTD, and the CM
can activate your package tickets.
(This can only be done 1, 2, or 3 days before your WDW resort check-in, and not on the same day as your check-in.)

You can also check into your resort as early as 6:30 am. Even if your room isn't ready you can get checked in, store any luggage with luggage service if you want, activate your dining plan and charging privileges, and pick up your parking pass so you don't have to pay at the park gate. This should only take a few minutes, and then you can head to the park before rope drop.

You can activate your park tickets up to 3 days before check-in day for your resort, as described above. You'll need to have photo ID and resort reservation info with you. But you can't do early ticket pick-up on check-in day. The early ticket pick-up doesn't apply to dining credits or free theme park parking.

You can check in between 6-7am on check-in day. Your room might not be ready, but you can get your amenities activated (tickets, dining, room charging, theme park parking pass), and you can give your luggage to bell services to keep until you call them from your room later (or pick up yourself at bell services). You will be emailed or texted with your room number and you can go to your room directly with no further stop at the front desk. Your MagicBand will unlock your room door.
