Hi All,

Do all of the members of your party need to be present at check-in at the same time? I'm assuming yes, but you never know.

It looks like my parents will be flying down to join us on the 3 day cruise portion of our vacation. We will get them a studio at OKW for the night before the cruise. We'd like to get up, have breakfast, then drive over to the terminal. There won't be room for them in our van, so we are going over our transportation options for them. We need to keep it simple and, of course, less expensive is better.

If they do DCL transfers, we'll be on DCL's timetable. Also, I'm pretty sure that they don't pick up at OKW, so we would have to get them and their luggage somewhere that they could catch the bus. Then we'd have to wait for them to show up at the terminal to check in.

I'm thinking about towncar, cab, or car rental as other options. Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help everyone.

Mike

Mike you have many things to chose from here.

DCL's transferrs are on their timetables. They can either do the transferrs or rent a car. I have read many people save money by renting a car and turning it in at the port. They could also stay at the port at a hotel that has free parking. But if they will be relying on your for transportation to a hotel then the port would not work. If they are not worried about money I say do the DCL transfers.

Mike:

Not everyone in your party needs to be there. What many people do is have one person return the rental vehicle while the others check in. Once you return to the terminal, make sure you have a photo-id or they wont let you in, you go back to the CM who checked the others in & get your KTTW card. I have read that some CM's will give your KTTW card to the person checking you in, but that is not always the case.

Your parents could check in on their own after you are already on the ship.

I forgot to mention about check-in. Last October my IL's went with us and they were able to check in with us. We have cruised before (Castaway Club Members) and are able to register in another line (sometimes this line is not the quickest). My IL's explained they had not cruised before but they still allowed them to come with us. I thought that was very nice. They also were invited to go to the party for returning guest.

As stated before they can check in seperately. I hate though that you guys can not ride down together. That is part of the fun.

Thanks for the replies. I think we may have them rent a car. It's cheaper than the town car services, and a whole lot more convenient than the DCL bus.

We actually have them booked in the same rooms with us. Since we're a family of 5, we booked connecting secret porthole rooms. We were able to add one of them to each room. They'll have one of the rooms with one or two of our kids, and the rest of us will be in the other room. That's why I questioned about all of us being there at the same time to check in. If they rent a car though, it really won't be an issue.

Thanks again everyone!

Mike

Budget has a shuttle from their drop off location to the port. Make sure whichever car rental place you choose, they can get you to the port.

Enjoy
