Check in-All Star resorts

My family and I are going to be staying at the All Star Movies resort for a week next month; I was wondering what the check in procedure is? Will our bags be searched? Metal detectors? My wife wants to bring alcohol (rather than pay outrageous prices at the hotel), will that be okay? Also, I would like to bring my knife; I've carried it everywhere since I was 15. Not inside the parks or anything, just to the hotel in case we would need it (for the kids toys, which you know they will get plenty of) Any and all help will be appreciated.

My boyfriend and I stayed there in September (we stayed on the third floor of the Fantasia 2000 building) and they did not check our bags and I didn't see any metal detectors. I did the online checkin a few days before we arrived so I just brought the confirmation and my id and went into the online checkin line and they had our welcome package waiting for me! Also we had another room the next two nights at another Disney resort and they were able to transfer our bags over there for free! We were able to enjoy the park and not worry about our bags.

Have fun! I can not wait for my little mini vacation in two weeks (going on a Disney cruise and spending one night at the All Star Music Resort)

No the hotels do not check bags, the airline might if you are flying. I've seen many people come through the lobby with cases of beer from outside DisneyWorld and bring them to there rooms. If your making mixed drinks to have at the pool just remember no glass containers or beer bottles. Other than that just use common sense and nobody will care. We have had many adult beverages that we brought in without any incidents...
