is there a way to check cabana availability PRIOR to booking? We may take a last minute cruise on 5/18. However we will have our 6 month old and the cabana may be the determining factor if we will book or not.

No, you can't see if there are any cabanas available, unless you have a reservation.

Or, if you know someone who's on that cruise already, possibly they could check the availability for you and let you know.

That’s what I was thinking. Just being hopeful since it wasn’t summer yet. Lookin at the 8/29 sailing too. Wonder what the odds would be to snag one for then? We’re silver castaway members...

As Silver, you're chances are slim. But certainly possible. You just have to keep an eye on the reservation page from the time your window opens until cruise date. There are people who book cabanas "just in case" and then cancel the reservation just before the reservation penalties will kick in for cancelling. Also, you can check once onboard to see if they're running a wait list for cancellations.

And, even if there was a cabana available right now, it likely won't be by the time you actually book and sign in. :(

As PP mentioned, it's unlikely. I'm silver, too, and the only way I got one is when someone in my cruise group canceled one about a week before the cruise and another member of the group and I were able to get their cabana and split the cost. If a cabana is really going to be the deciding factor, I'd say take a different trip. If it's just something you would like (but not a deal breaker) then go ahead and book and hope for the best.

I had a friend recently snag one, at " silver" , so keep checking, yes they had gone, but someone must had cancelled, never ever say never.

He was showing us his photos recently.

I have had Cabanas 4/5 good location.

I’m on the May 7th sailing and didn’t want a cabana when concierge requests were processed. All of the sudden I decided I wanted one but, they were sold out. On Friday one popped up on the Family Beach and I snagged it. It’s entirely possible to get lucky last minute.

Agree, hard , but not impossible, my friend snagged one and wasn't concierge and booked quite late.

We haven't even tried to book a cabana, but based on what I've read it's nearly impossible to book one unless you're concierge and/or stalk the website.

I would not expect that if you checked for availability before booking that by the tie you booked, PIF and were registering it would still be available.

Booked the Dreamabout 50 days from sailing. Snagged a Serenity Bay cabana 4 days prior to sailing. I’d say if the cabana is a deal breaker book concierge more than 125 days out & request it.

Your odds of getting a CC Family Beach cabana as a silver are about the same as your odds of winning the grand snowball jackpot during the bingo game at the end of the cruise.

The people who report getting lucky & getting them as silvers are usually referring to Serenity Bay (adult-only beach) cabanas.

There's always someone who wins the lottery or the grand jackpot at bingo, so it's not impossible. But it is extremely unlikely.

My friend - who one the grand snowball jackpot then! Was on the family beach with his children.
Hard, not impossible.

Odds improve on lower season cruises.

She did NOT say impossible. She said unlikely. There IS a difference.

The reality is if having a cabana on the family beach (which they would have to as they have an infant) is a 100% must or they are going to have a miserable cruise, they should probably not book. If it is a 100% must have, they need to do as @sweetpee_1993 said and book Concierge more than 125 days out.

Kind of like the lottery, if you don't buy a ticket you can't win! Just keep checking and you never know. A few cruises ago we had to cancel our cruise (family lines), and we had a cabana reserved. So it was released the day we canceled, and someone checking found it was their lucky day.

Also, I suspect that perhaps some people reserve one and may release it just outside the 3 day window. That's a good time to check just to see if there is a last minute availability.

Your chances of this happening and you get it? Very slim, but higher than your chances if you don't check LOL

Lucky duck. :beach:

I'm not saying not to try. I love playing Bingo, too, after all, and as I said, someone always does win...
