ChEar Squad

Has anyone done the chear squad before? I am doing the WDW Half and my best friend is trying to figure out if the platinum package is worth it. Thanks in advance guys.

My wife was part of the ChEar Squad last year along with a bunch of our neighbors. They only signed up for the Gold package. It was pretty cool for them to get a shirt and clappers, but as far as seeing me run along the course, it was not necessary. Are they glad they signed up? Yes. Would they sign up again this year? No.

I have never run at Disney or done the ChEar packages. However I will be running in 2014 and my Dad will be there to cheer me on.

The main advantage of the Platinum ChEar package that I can see is access to the Race Retreat during and after the race for the spectator. I have bought Race Retreat, as a runner, so it would be nice for my Dad to also have access after the race, otherwise he'll be standing outside while I'm inside.

Other than Race Retreat access, I think there would be plenty of places to watch runners without paying for a ChEar package.

I'm in a similar boat! I'll be running the PHM in February, my dad will be there to cheer me on (he's 70 but healthy and everything!). I'm worried about him getting bored/cold/hot if he doesn't do the ChEar package...also worried that he might want to sit for part of the waiting for me to finish. I wonder if there's seating for non-ChEAR squad people? I don't think I'm going to do race retreat

I ran the 2013 WDW Half and bought my wife and daughter the Gold package. The T-shirt and the clappers were nice. Also the reserved seating and liquid refreshments were nice for the four hours they waited for me to corral up, run, and cross the finish line.

I do not intend to buy my family a ChEAR Squad package for the 2014 marathon. I'm running the full marathon (my first full marathon) and we have agreed on a place to meet on the course. They are going to go to the front gates of DHS which is at about mile 23. We are also staying at the Beach Club. This allows them to sleep in, and for me to see them when I think I'll really need them.
