We want to spend as much time at WDW as possible, so we want to take something other than ME (or car rental)from Grand Floridian back to the airport. What is the least expensive venue for 2 people? Taxi? I've heard $50-$75 w/o tip. FL Tours? Says they're cheaper than a taxi. True or not? Other town cars? Happy Limo? What has been your experience?
Thanks for your input.

According to the FL Tours site, it will cost you $65, no tip, one-way to GF....$119 r/t, again, with no tip included.
That's pretty much the norm. A cab will run about $55 each way. If you are checking luggage, it's going to be pretty much a wash if usinig a car service or cab.
I have used a car service, with checked luggage, and it takes (usually) about an hour or so from deplaning to resort. When using DME, it takes an average of 70 mins, again from deplaning to resort. I figure I gain about half an hour by using a car service.

Up to you what you decide to go with. But a car service will run you about $75 (tip included) one way....$138 r/t.

Hi. You asked for the cheepest so here we go.
Not being all that funny, but this answer will probably only had been answered by an foreigner like :hippie: who travel allot to Orlando, and knows that there are actually public transportation in Orlando.

Take bus form TTC (transportation and ticket center MK). Route 111.
PDF file here : http://www.golynx.com/assets/userfiles/routemaps/111.pdf

The bus depart TTC once an hr.
Time is ??:38, thats 38,min past the hr.

This bus takes 1,hr 10,min to MCO. DIRECT.
Cost are 2 dollar adult. 1 dollar child or senior.
The bus are clean and empty.(seems to me that Americans don´t take public transport.)
At latest not in Orlando
:woohoo::thumbsup2

Have a Magical Time.

Roger.

I'm sorry, but I find it so ironic that you're springing for the most expensive resort on Disney property (assuming you're checking out from there) and are looking to save a few $ on your ride to the airport to get home. :rotfl:

If you're looking to maximize your time in Disney, go with a service car. It will be well under $100. Otherwise, just use DME - it's free and will take just 1/2hr more. Seriously, what do you plan on doing in that 1/2 hr?

I like to arrive 1.5 to 2 hrs before my flight. I go closer to the 2 for MCO. About an hour to the airport & you have the same 3 hr pickup DME uses.

Car Service prices vary from $100.00 to $150.00 round trip. The price does not include gratuity which is optional to some of the car services. Taxi run about $55.00 or $65.00 depending on the resort you are staying at. Taxis use the meter and car service is a flat rate. With car service you can choose one that will stop at a grocery store. There you can pick up some extra groceries, water or brew for your stay at the world. The Publix at Williamsburg also has a liquor store, in the plaza, that you can shop at.

Most independent car service companies do not have to follow the Mears and other noted companies rule of raising transportation prices when the prices go up at Disney.

You can get to WDW in less than an hour, 45 minutes, if you are an experienced traveler or about an hour using car service and no grocery stop. Car service also picks you up 2 hours before your flight, at your room, or at the your drop-off point, when you are returning to MCO. Bus service to MCO requires you to be at the pick-up point or close by 3 to 3 1/4 hours before your airport departure time.
