Cheapest Way to Get CocaCola?

Has she considered packing a small supply to take with her on the plane? I'd check the security regulations first of course.

I can understand prefering the canned coke taste over the bottle taste. Anyway if you can't work it out with Dis'ers perhaps you should consider wegoshop? The delivery fee is $17 and if you can find a sale at Target, Publix or Walmart at about $2.50 or $3.50 for a 12 pack you can equal that $1 per can without the effort of dragging the 24 pack from the Hess station...assuming you are carless.

This doesn't help you with you question, but ...

I only drink diet Coke if it is from a fountain. It DOES taste different, and I like fountain--hate it from can/bottle. To each his own ...

Maybe she should rent a car to go to Publix to fill up on cheap coke-oh wait that would add another $30 or so dollars-
I say 4 bucks a day -she can swing it!

This reminds me of my MIL who will drive 2 hrs and 2 states to buy cheap cigarettes!

As you said, if the "coke" issue is the worst problem then you are ok. I do think you are a kind SIL trying to help her. Have a great time.

We will be travelling from Atlanta on Jan 23rd...and we will be bringing Coke that we get locally for $2.50 a 12 pack. DB says Coke canned or bottled anywhere other than Atlanta tases funny (and you thought you were weird!).

If you want to swing by AKL we can set up a time and I will pack an extra couple of 12 packs for you....one case equals 2 twelve packs!

Let me know!

PS...I don't suppose you are DVC members? I would trade 2 12 packs of coke and a 6 pack of 8 ounce glass bottles if you take DB and myself to Expedition Everest :)

Hey Meezers!

We will take you on EE. DH is the only one who will probably get on the ride. Send me a pm if you're interested :)

Deb

Thanks again for all your help. I am going to see her this weekend and let her know her options. A special thanks to those who volunteered to make a Coke delivery to the Villas! I will send you a PM if we decide to take you up on it. Before ME we always rented a car and made a grocery stop, so this wasn't an issue.

Does anyone know the exact cost of Coke at the resorts? Is it $2.50 for a 20 oz bottle? Do they sell it by the can? What about the pop machines near the park bus stops? Is it the same price there?

Donna

Last week, the vending machines at the BWV were all $2.50 for a 20 oz plastic bottle. I don't recall seeing any cans in machines there and I didn't look for soda at the General Store.

Best wishes -

I love the coke prices in the south but I learned to love mexican coke up north...make that coke bottled in mexico.

if you are staying at VWL - get her to try the refillable mug.

VWL has the best mug (in my opinion) out there. Also the snack bar is located in a great place for the MK.

Not so great for the others - but great for MK.

tell her to be carefully in the Hess parking lot - some people drive crazy there.

She can probably get 3 cases for the price of 1 there. of course getting them back to VWL..... considering she can't take an open stroller on the bus....

Spicy - is VWL still using the travel mugs that will fit in your car?? I love those, we have 2 and use them all the time. Much better then the other "big mugs"!! We have the tan with green tops and use them almost daily!

Jest if you will people!!!! but this I totally understand!!! The coke from the fountain does not taste the same. The can is better and even better than that is the glass bottle.

Can you get a small order from garden grocer or Netgrocer? You said she will have a stroller, so maybe some snacks and baby items would give you the limit on the order you need to go this route?

Good luck I toally understand. I actually just got back from BJ's with 2 cases of glass cokes. Some kids look for cocoa on Christmas Eve mine look for a glass coke for Santa. :teeth:

Can you be my mom? I love Coke in glass bottles. Don't buy them often because of the price...

The best Coke I ever had... I was like 8 months pregnant in August, it was 90-something degrees and we were out all afternoon shopping and walking. I'd been pretty good and hadn't had a coke or caffeine in months but weak with heat I stopped at a deli and got a coke in a glass bottle and downed the thing in a single drink. It tasted better than anything else in the world.

But I digress...

:rotfl: BJ's has cases of glasses cokes which is 4 six packs for only $9.99.

I brought a friend some treats last night and gave her some glass cokes with it. ANd she said OH my God you made my day!!!!
She was so excited about a foolish glass coke. It's not just us!!!

Fountain Drinks lack consistancy. McD's does a decent job at most places, though some have that little hint of "root beer flavor" in the background. BK cokes are the worst. the water around WDW really hurts the taste. As far as cans, some bottlers are better than others. To save money, many bottlers no longer use sugar but a sweented corn oil. These Cokes are terrible. That was the whole reason for New Coke, so they could switch from sugar to corn oil and when they went back to classic no one would noticed. but that is another story. The glass bottles taste the best because every bottler still uses pure sugar cane in these sodas. Thanks to the Big Sugar Industry for funding the glass bottle programs. They are such a treat.

A small town below us of about 50,000 people has a bottling plant. the left over soda (or by-product) is used to clean out the waste treatment plant. It is a soda called Cheerwine and it is a deep red color. So the big giant vat that churns all the poop is a deep red. It is really a site to see. Makes you really want a soft drink. if it is used to clean and eat millions of gallons of poop, what will 4 cans a day do to the body?

Hi, my name is gracelrm and I'm a Diet Mt. Dewaholic!!!! We drive to Disneyworld, so I always bring along my own so I understand the OP sister's problem. She is fortunate that her favorite soft drink is available at WDW - just be thankful it's not a Pepsi product! And like the OP, I wouldn't want to ruin anyone's trip by kicking the habit while on vacation!

Have a bit of a Cocacola addiction myself; last time we were in BCV in Nov. the coke in the vending machine was (!) $2.50 a bottle--small bottles, not lg. ones. The resort store had them for half that price...a little over a dollar, sorry can't remember the price.
have your sister buy one from the vending machine....after that, no matter where she buys one on property it will seem like she's found a bargain! :cool1:

Fountain tastes different because it is different -- at least the Diet variety is. Diet Coke in cans is 100% aspartame (Nutrasweet). Diet Coke at the fountain is a mixture of aspartame and saccharin; I'd guess roughly 50-50. Plus there is variety in the quality of syrup you get at fountain outlets.

I totally understand. I LOVE caffeine free REGULAR coke. It is often very difficult to find, so I am used to regular coke, but prefer CF. Some major supermarkets don't even sell it. I hate to have caffeine after 2 p.m., so when I can't get CF I settle for Sprite. Our grocery stop consists of a 12 pack of CF coke, the small waters and cran-grape juice. Not really worth it, but I need that soda. After our February trip, we should be driving up, so that will solve that problem

And I agree that it is the water that makes some coke taste awful. Years ago in Hawaii the coke was just horrible. I couldn't believe there could be a difference from one place to another, but there definitely was.

Let us know what you decide to do.

Hi! This is Donna. I talked to my sister-in-law yesterday and I think we are going to go with Wegoshop. We had Wegoshop cancel our delivery during the Thanksgiving weekend so I was a little gun-shy. But the recent reviews have been good so we probably will give them another chance.

Besides the Coke issue she is also looking at needing diapers for a 14 month old. I am sure that with snacks and such, we will have a nice order for them!

This thread has really been interesting! My sister is a diet Mountain Dew fan and needed to have the cab driver stop at a convience store on the way to the Port to supply her prior to a Royal Carribean cruise last spring.

I had no idea that a product like Coke wasn't standardized as to its formulation, at least in the US!

Thanks again for all the ideas! :earsgirl:
