Cheapest way from airport to BC hotel?

I have a car reserved with Alamo for August and got a fantastic rate. We had to extend our trip by a day. I cannot change the reservation to drop off at the Dolphin without a really large increase.

I called ME but they said I cannot use them because I have to be arriving on a plane.

So what is the next cheapest way to get to BCVs?

Sorry to be obtuse, but I'm not clear on the issue. How are you arriving in Orlando? Are you adding a day on at the beginning or the end of your trip?

Well, you could take the Lynx bus from the airport to downtown Orlando, then transfer to the bus that goes to the Magic Kingdom parking lot, then either take the monorail to Epcot and walk through to and out the Internation Gateway, or take the monorail or ferry from the TTC to Magic Kingdom and take the Disney bus from there back to your hotel. See www.golynx.com for price and routing information, but expect it to take several hours. On the other hand, it costs less than $2.00.

You want to take your rental car back to MCO and then return to WDW? You can go to the Mears desk and pay for a ticket. Mears will transport you on a DME bus. You could also go the Lynx route.

I'd decide where I want to be, if you're going to the MK tell Mears you want to go to the Contemporary.

We've added the day at the end. Unfortunately I booked the car before I booked the airline tix so I need to return the car the day before we are really leaving.

Basically I have to drive the rental car back to the airport and then return to the Beach Club since we are leaving the following day.

::yes:: ::yes:: specifically the Beach Club.

This is exactly what I was looking for. When I went to the Mears website, they wouldn't give me a price for the Beach Club. Instead they told me to book ME. I wasn't sure if I could pay them to take me or not.

You could also go the Lynx route.
I know a lot of people use it successfully but it doesn't really seem to be worth the hassle to me.

I'd decide where I want to be, if you're going to the MK tell Mears you want to go to the Contemporary.
Why?

Um, because Mears will drive you to the destination you reserve?
My question referred to why would I ask for the Contemporary if I am at the Beach Club. My question to Lewis is why would I want to book the Contemporary.....

I think he was trying to help you have as hassle-free an experience as possible. I'll flesh it out a little. On the day you will have to return the car to MCO, what will you be doing that day? So he was saying, for example, will your family be going to MK? Because if so, rather than getting a ride back to BCV, and then your having to take DIsney Transport to MK to link up with your family, you could arrange it and time it so that you could meet your family at MK, and the quickest way he was suggesting to do that was to be dropped off at Contemporary. To piggyback on that, I guess if MK actually is your target you could also go to GF, and then hop on the monorail (if Contemporary to MK, your quickest way would be to walk).

Yeh, you definitely bought yourself some hassle, but look on the bright side, you'll be at WDW one day more than you originally thought! And, as they say, that ain't bad.

Okay, I'm clear now...just takes a bit of explaining for my poor old brain to function. So...you've added a day at the end of your stay at BC, but you need to return the car a day early, and then arrange for transportation back to the airport the following day. Think I got it.
Last Nov, I booked DME to get me to BWV. No problem. However, my ds ended up picking me up at MCO since I had his cat with me..he took me to BW. I still needed to get back to the airport, so used DME to do that. I did call them and let them know that I wasn't going to need to use them for the trip to the resort. They didn't seem to have an issue with that.
So....can you change your drop-off to the Dolphin, on the original drop-off day, and then ride DME back to the airport the next day? I would check and see if you can make that change and if so, then call DME and make arrangements with them. Or, take DME from the airport originally, and change your pickup spot to the Dolphin. Does that make sense? Not sure if it's doable but might be worth looking into.

If you were planning to spend your day at the MK it would make more sense to take Mears/DME to the Contemporary and then walk to the MK rather than taking the bus to the BC and then taking another bus to the MK. Obviously if you were just going to spend the day at the pool you'd take the bus to your resort.

You can't book (reserve) Mears in advance; just go to the Mears desk, buy a voucher and they'll direct you to the DME area.

edited to say I see Cleve already answered. Thanks. Sorry my original post wasn't more clear.

No problem! Now I understand. :)

DH will not move from the room without me :confused3 :lmao: so I will be dropping off the car early and heading back to the hotel.

Tink we had already planned to do DME back just so we don't have to shlep the luggage.

Sorry, Diane, it doesn't make sense. DME from the Dolphin??? Hey, everyone's entitled to an off day .... :goodvibes

Also, keep checking your rental car rate for your new flight schedule or for a return to the Dolphin. It may be bad now, but could get better. We had to cut our trip short by a day last year and initially our rate went way up (talk about adding insult to injury -- less Disney, more cost!!!). Eventually it came back down to a reasonable rate.

ALso, try calling Alamo to see if they can add a day to your reservation without changing the base rate. Sometimes what is not possible online may be possible on the phone.

Also, even if you return your rental car to the airport on flight day, if you are flying on certian airlines and your flight doesn't leave before 8 am, you will still be able to check your luggage at the BC and have your boarding pass issued. AA participates in this progam, as do many other airlines, but SW does not.

Best of luck -- Suzanne

No, silly head!!! She would take her rental car from MCO to BC,have the use of the car for whatever she needs for the vacation, then she could drop it off at the Dolphin Alamo counter, and the following day, take DME from BC to MCO. I believe she is staying at the BC, not the Dolphin!!!
