I'll be purchasing four five-day park hoppers (no pluses) for my next trip in June. Where's the best place to purchase? Does Hotwire Savings Club offer these, or do I need to go to a Disney store??

if you know someone in the military get them to get them for you at the the local base....if possible........thats how we do it....same tickets you get at the gate....

How much do they cost the military? I do know several people with military privileges, but wouldn't want to bother them if the cost wasn't that much different.

We wanted to get military passes as well, but found out this info from Mousesavers.com. The part about having tickets confiscated was enough to scare us into getting our passes through AAA!!!

Active duty and retired military, DOD civilian employees and their dependents qualify for some of the best discounts available on multi-day passes -- a little over 10% off -- and even better discounts on some of the other admissions. For instance, you can save about $35 per 7-Day Park Hopper Plus, and about 50% off on Pleasure Island admission. The tickets are available through your local base MWR. The prices and the exact passes that are available will vary from base to base.

Another place where active duty and retired military can get discounted tickets is a small Navy Exchange in Orlando that has an ITT/MWR office. It is located near the airport on Tradeport & Earhart Drive. The MWR office phone number is (407) 855-0116 or (407) 851-4396, or you can email them at mwrorl@aol.com for current hours and prices. This particular office even has discounts on one-day passes! Thanks to Cathy C for info.

Disney has the right to check ID at the gate. Military personnel may bring in non-military guests with the military discount as long as they accompany the non-military person(s) and at least 50% of the group are qualified for the military discount (i.e., active duty, retired, DOD and dependents). If military personnel purchase tickets and give them as gifts to non-military users that they will not be accompanying, they risk having the recipient denied entry and the tickets confiscated.

I priced the 5 day hopper from our local AAA at $232.33.

It was the cheapest I found.

Of course, you have to be a AAA member to buy them.

I have used the Military tickets for 4 years now and never had a problem...they scan just like the rest and dont even say military on them if I remember correctly....just run the ticket thru the little machine and bam....

Last price list I got

Disney 4 day hopper.....193.00 and 154.00
5 day hopper.......222.00 and 179.00
5 day plus.....252.00 and 202.00
6 day plus.....281.00 and 225.00
Universal 1 day....50.00 and 40.00
universal 2 day.....90.75 and 76.00
Sea world.....49.00 and 41.00
Busch Gardens.....49.00 and 41.00

I guess I need a disclaimer on this post.....Like I said....I have never had a problem or been question not buying or using the tickets.....so take it for what it is worth.....

Disney will not confiscated your military tickets. I am a DOD employee and I get these tickets all the time for family and friends. They are for any Military, DOD employee and their family and friends. I called my military travel office and confirmed this before I purchased them.

FYI,
garydeb

:o) Two days until WDW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quite Honestly I dont even see how they would know or why they would care....I have never had a cast member even look at my tickets....We arrive at the gate slip ticket into the little slot an pick it up on the other side....only thing a cast member has done at the gate is help my wife with the stroller....I usually run the tickets....For that matter I dont even know if they would realize if we went in on a childs pass which we dont but I dont really think they would know....Too many people at one time all they wanna see is the green light.....maybe thats just me

Check out the Shades of Green website and they have posted under attractions the various ticket prices. I would think those would be the same as at any military installation. It would give you an idea of what you would be saving.

Does Hotwire Savings Club offer these
Yes they do, and the pricing from them should beat everything listed here.

My experience last spring was as Rickk9 described. The AAA price beat the Disney advanced purchase price by a few dollars a ticket.
